What Does It Take To Become An Expert In Your Niche

Last Update: February 12, 2010

When people are having trouble writing articles it’s because of two main problems.

They do not know enough about the product/niche that they need to write about.

They are stuck with the belief that they have to be promoting the product.

If these two problems apply to you, you are most certainly stuck, and can’t write a single article without struggling a great deal.

So, how do you fix these two issues and transform them into two great open doors that will allow you to come up with infinite ideas for article writing?

There is a rule of thumb that says that if you study any one subject for 21 days, you would be an expert at it.  Yes, that is as simple as that.  If you study let say a full normal 8 hour working day about the subject that you want to promote you can be an expert at it in 21 days from now.  It can be ANY subject.  If you want to cut that in two, just study 4 hours for 42 days. If this is still too much for you. Spend two hours a day for 84 days.  In a less than 3 months you will be an expert in your niche, only by spending 2 hours a day studying it.

That is all it takes for you to become an expert on any given subject.

What happens when you are expert in a subject? You will get plenty of ideas to write about. You will be able to answer most questions that people ask on forums.  Those questions and answers are GREAT base for article content.  As a whole, if you have got to the point that you are an expert in your niche you ideas of articles will flow like water in a river bed.  You will have so many ideas coming up to you; you will literally have to walk around with a pen and pad of paper to be ready when ideas come up! (I am not kidding here, once an idea is gone… it’s gone, never to come back, so be ready).

How do I know this? Well, that’s what happens to me!

Once you have such knowledge about your product or niche it will help you to get rid of the second problem mentioned above, which is being stuck with the belief that you have to promote your product in your articles.  None sense! If you are still doing this, please, do yourself a favor, and stop NOW!

Product promotion is ONLY good for PPC ads and other paid advertising. But it is NOT good for article marketing.

How do I know this? None of my articles are selling anything whatsoever (as a matter of fact I am going to use the content of this blog to write an article), and my articles are getting 20% click through rate overall with my combine niches and up to 27% on some specific niches. Don’t know what those percentage mean?  Well, 1% CTR (Click Through Rate) is considered good for a PPC ad, which means that one person out of 100 have clicked on the ad.

As you can see, Article Marketing is way better in CTR than PPC ads. Use this to your advantage.

Awesome post Sylviane. I've followed your advice from the very beginning and I have a satisfying click rate now and can literaly write on every issues related to my niche which is great ! :)

Oh just one very specific question for you, at the end of your article, really just before the resource box, do you think it's worth it to mention the link provided in the resource box (like "the link below might interest you if blablabla") or do you think it may harm a bit the click rate ?

thanks ! ;)
