Can I Get a Push I Think I'm Stuck

Last Update: April 17, 2012

Hello all...

First of all I have to mention that WA has more than lived up to their reputation and I have learned so much since joining.  WA members and chat has been maybe one of the best gathering places to just to shoot the breeze or get some questions anwered and has invaluable to my learning curve.  The friends I am meeting along the way is a bonus for sure...just had to say that....

Well with that out of the way the main reason for this blog, I am seeking some direction or maybe some thoughts on the direction that I am thinking of taking my golf site.  I put this forward as I am somewhat stuck at moving the site up the rankings...I understand the quality content all to well as this site was deindexed for quite a while..

I never let the site go, almost but no, I always kept the faith that it would come back and it did...I did a lotl of reading and asking of questions and made some drastic changes to the site...I believe I now have a much better idea of what a quality site is and am wanting to move forward with this site.....

The biggest problem here is although I golf and enjoy the game (shoulder may keep me from this year) and enjoy talking golf and engaging in golf talk....I have no real contribution to teaching others the game as I am in the early stages of a long learning curve as I am not a good golfer by far...just mainly enjoyment for me...can I get better...I am getting better...not much but better...

I have written mainly interesting facts, hall of fame stuff, interesting facts but do not really help anyone in the game not really....I have written articles on rangefinders as I do use one and it is improvinig my game and I do really believe in using them....I have written a few articles on rangefinders or the main topic was something to do with rangefinders...And I am sure If I dig deep I may find another one or two angles to write on....in reality how much can be said about rangefinders and still have it be quality content?????

With that said, as now my site is back up on google and I am getting traffic back, it has been there for almost a week, or more, and yes with all that is going on it could get kicked baack or out for what ever reason....but at this moment it is still there so I am going to treat it like it is here to stay...

So  need to add more content soon, I still want the site to be a review site for its main purpose, so how do I move forward with my now known knowledge of quality content....I thought of entering a golf news page....stuff like...new equipment, not reviews but new equipment launches...of course tournment news as there are golf tournies all year never run out of games to report on as companys only do new launches once a year,   other news realated items that I can find....

I would represent them in this fashion, a lot of info I would write up an intro paragraph to the product or news item (original write up) then link the vistor to read the fulll article where the article has been published....so really passing on info I to the visitor that I have found and believe to be of interest others....

Now the tournments however I can actually do my own unique content write up by following a few news articles and watching the interviews and highlights of the game I can actually cime up with my own quality article of the game....

With all this said, will a news page run in this manner going to get me what I seek quality content on my site that visiotors will want to keep coming back for....and maybe the most important part here is this content going to set well with the main theme of the page is not news but golf rangefinders...at the same time it is most deffinetly connected to golf...

I know this has been very long winded but I really do not want to work on this news page as it will take some work get set up and get writing content for it....I will be able to come up with a good backlingking campagn using the news page with SA and differnet places...

Main concern is this going to be quality content for this site.....????

Thanks for sticking with it....fishing.....Tim.....

I think that whatever niche you are in, golf or fishing, you need to help people. Why would someone want a range finder? To see their yardage better, understand pin placement, and to be more accurate with their shots. Ultimately people looking for stuff like this are looking to become better at golf.

Providing them with hall of fame information is a bit off topic, but telling them how to shave 5 strokes off their putting game by recommending a belly putter, or telling people how to properly use a sand wedge is information that will be high regarded...and the associated products they would be quite interested in buying.

Help people, don't just dump information on them. There is a big difference and this should be applied regardless of your industry.

I agree whole heartitly, was not really sure about all of the info articles as they are interesting and I have comments on very few but some...but are not very valuable in the waay of passiing on knowledge i agree...to give golf instruction...not really my strong suit that is for sure....of course I can research it and do a write up.....and that is what I may have to do to keep this site up and running....was lookinig for a different avenue...thought the news would be a good idea but at the same time not really tied to golf rangefinders are they no not at all....thanks Kyle for stirrinig me in the right direction....my fishing site is a no brainer....I am quite a good fisherman and have learned much in 30 years and that I can pass to others...golf is a much hareder niche for me....but it is back and I will deal with it if I want it to stay around....unless google desides to give it a boot again....Again thanks for your thoughts....takes me where I knew I shouild go....

News would be a good approach if this is what your domain was about, however it is about rangefinders which will make it confusing to a visitor if they are learning about hall of fame news or the latest tour event.

You could also offer tutorials on how to use range finders for maximum benefit, ways to shave off yards by understanding distances, wind patterns, and locations of bunkers and hazards using rangefinder.

Put yourself in the shoes of your audience, it is the single most effective way to deliver great content on your site.

Tim...I think many of us are not "experts" in the fields we choose to Market but doing ample research and presenting it in your own unique way is key.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "I would write up an intro paragraph to the product or news item (original write up) then link the vistor to read the fulll article where the article has been published....so really passing on info I to the visitor that I have found and believe to be of interest others....". Would this be an article you published elsewhere with your affiliate link?

This just means that I would intoduce the article and then pass the visitor off to the article nothing to do with me getting a link...the visitor gets his news and I just find it for them...until it comes to tournments I can give an actual review complete with quotes just from the highlights and interviews that are taped and I can make them timely the next day they would go up on the site...I think that it is a good idea and I think it will give the quality content that I want....but not 100% sure as there are a few obstacles, how well does this work with my site...or does that matter....same niche different topic...
