Google Dance
Last Update: July 23, 2012
Well looks like I am fulll of blog today, but I was just checking one of my sites to see where I was sitting in google (what page I was on). Like usuall it has been goiing up and down all over the place one page one day another the next.
I was thinking when I did not know why this was happeniing it used to drive me crazy thinking my site was broke somehow so of course run to the fourum or chat and ask what is happening.
I thought I would mention to the newbie's that are experiencing the same thing and not quite sure why this is happening....
Well known as the google dance, basically google reconizes that you are there (a good thing) but not quite sure where to put you just yet...so you will see your site getting bounced up and down...
Not sure why....
It just seems to happen this way more times than not, it takes some time to get used to it...
Hope this will clear the confusion as to why your site looks like it is doing the jig within google.....

It is not just Google doing it. My pages look like dancing with the stars on Bing. :)

I was danced right out of my pg1 rank 3 spot recently...grrrr
I had a Squidoo site which was ranked as I previously mentioned and doing really well. I decided to update it by adding more content seeing as I hadn't worked on it in months. After my update, the site dropped to the second last spot on the first page and my traffic has been less than half of what it originally was. How frustrating! I'm not a newbie yet still confused when I "jig" with google..lol

I have a couple sites that are several months old. Before the penguin update my sites were ranking on page one for some good keywords.
post the penguin update all my sites have been all over the place. I guess it is better than being de-indexed but I suspect this google dance is not just because the site is new.
I think it also has to do with google still making tweaks to their search engine algorithms.
I am moving forward with my SEO but also going to put some time into article writing again.
The lesson I learned is not to depend on google for money or traffic. valuable lesson indeed.

Do you have a general idea of how long, weeks or months before google decides where to put a site?
