On a short trip to London, K Sable realised the importance of having a comprehensive travel insurance policy. The policy came to his rescue when his baggage and passport were misplaced.

Travel insurance is not a factor one pays much attention to when planning a trip. But even if you feel that the chances of things going wrong in your otherwise well-planned holiday or business trip are slim, a good travel insurance cover is a must have in today’s context. It can be quite reassuring if something, God forbid, goes awry.

Though travel covers for domestic and foreign travel are now easily available, domestic insurance covers have not really picked up. Two basic covers are available to travellers: one, a simple overseas medical-insurance cover, and two, a more comprehensive travel-insurance one. Both these types are available to leisure and business travellers as well as to students going abroad for studies.

The convenience of using a credit card cannot be argued upon.
It is much safer than carrying wads of notes each time you step out, of course with due caution.
Credit cards prove useful when making high value transactions.
And there is always a proof to rely on when you make payments on cards; they always leave behind a trail.
In addition to all these benefits, credit cards also offer you benefits in form or rewards or cash back.
Very often we face a dilemma in choosing which card would be beneficial to you.
Before going into the advantages, lets try to understand how both the options work.

Rewards scheme

Rewards scheme is the oldest form of credit card benefits.

Depending on the card that you possess, points are rewarded on your spend.

Gold, platinum card or privileged cards generally award more points per spend.

While, a normal card would earn 1 point on spend of Rs 150/Rs125, a privileged card would earn 1 or 2 points for every Rs 100 spent.

Example: A Citibank Rewards Card gives you 1 point on every Rs 125 spent, whereas a Manhattan Platinum Credit Card by Standard Chartered offers you 5 reward points on Rs 100 spent.

However, not everyone can get a premium card, stringent income criteria apply for issue of these cards.

Apple could be working on a slew of new products including a brand new 12-inch MacBook with a Retina display, if analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities is to be believed.

Kuo, who's had a decent record when it comes to Apple related predictions, has mentioned some new products and upgrades in a new research note. The development was firstreportedby 9to5Mac.

According to the research note, Apple will release a 12-inch MacBook with a Retina display, a new iPad with an even better resolution, and a budget iMac desktop computer, all in the year 2014.

Kuo predicts that the Cupertino giant will unveil a new smaller MacBook with an entirely new design in second or third quarter of 2014. The laptop will feature a high-resolution (Retina) 12-inch screen but would be as portable as the 11-inch MacBook Air and offer the same level of productivity as the 13-inch MacBook Air. The alleged MacBook will "redefine laptop computing," as per the analyst, mentioning that it would be thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air and feature a new clamshell structure. He also adds that the laptop will be powered by an Intel chip and will cost less than current Apple notebooks.

Kuo has also predicted that Apple could ship a lower-cost iMac desktop in Q2 or Q3 2014, as the current iMac sales were below expectations. He expects the desktop to take on Windows powered desktops and boost iMac sales by 10 percent to 20 percent.

He also forecasts a new sixth-generation full sized (9.7-inch) iPad featuring a more pixels-per-inch, with a resolution 30 to 40 percent higher than the current generation iPad. He adds that the third-generation iPad mini would feature a 2048x1536pixels Retina display currently seen in the full-sized iPad.
