April 17th, 2012: Have you Been Google Slapped?

Last Update: April 17, 2012

Google has laid the SMACK down once again!

I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. I have talked to many people today and seen some sights personally that have been Google slapped for no reason...

That means, sites that are:

(1) Well designed
(2) 100% unique and valuable content
(3) Not "Over SEO'd"
(4) Do not have disproportionate amounts of back links
(5) Are not part of a blog network

These are great sites with great content and great user value.

So why did Google SLAP them (and perhaps you)?

This could be associated with many things, but likely what happened is that Google has bundled many different updates in a singular algorithmic change and it adversely affected sites that shouldn't have probably been affected.

DO NOT PANIC! Do not do anything rash and careless. Instead, continue doing what you are doing. If you have had your site sandboxed (meaning completely reindexed) and you do not have any errors within Google Webmaster Tools and feel as though you have done nothing wrong, then just keep plugging away.

You will get reindexed.

Here are a couple things that you can do to speed up this process.

(1) Resubmit your Google site map
(2) Get a few quality back links to NEW website content
(3) Continue providing value
(4) Get some social shares

Google is making changes constantly and these painful times are what make you stronger as a marketer...if you have been slapped and don't feel this is right, then chances are doing everything right and Google has slipped up with their latest change.

Thanks for that Kyle. On Sunday night I was on cloud 9. 3 keywords with good search and low competition all no 1. Monday nowhere to be seen. Still indexed but not anywhere in search. No dodgy backlinks, all the right policy pages, not over SEO etc. Decided (already) to do just what you suggested. Will wait to see it come back.

Keep moving forward, don't let it stress you out. The only thing that is in your control is offering quality, Google will find it! :)

Most of our sites went back to page 1. However, I still have this site that is not there. I hope it will go back to page 1 too.

I see you stated that you may have over back linked it? Do what Kyle recommended to get re-indexed. Just don't sweat it.

It will likely come back if you have truly done nothing wrong, if you have bought bulk loads of backlinks you may find it more difficult to get back (will take some work and some unwork).

I hope you manage to get this resolve Cham. :)

I was slapped hard 2 days ago after I had added some new content to one of my sites. I was sitting respectively at #8 for the site and #3 for the only article I had written as this is a new site. I couldn't even find the site as being indexed. I looked for the site today and low and behold I am sitting at #2 with my SA article, #3 with my site home page and #4 with my blog page. I have some other articles I am working on using keywords from Jaaxy. KSR's lower than 10. What me panic...almost.

Yeah, that is what happened to many Mike. Lots of people got completely sandboxed (de-indexed out of Google)...only to see their rankings come back today. The people that saw their rankings lowered may have lost rankings but those who I saw this happen to were people that had an extraordinary amount of backlinks.

My health blogs dropped but are back. Also notice that my street articles are doing quite well in the rankings... page one and two. Now if I could just get them to convert! Like Larry Holmes once said "back to the drawing board Howard."

Yeah, great to hear. Street Articles is getting awesome rankings these days and we hope to keep it this way. One of the main reasons we are so stringent with our rules, quality will always prevail...regardless of the niche.

I knew it would only be a matter of time before some of these quality sites made it back into the SERP's. :)

An updated. Many of the sites that have been wrongfully punished and sandboxed from the SERPS with this latest update have already been reindexed with great rankings. If you were affected, please check your rankings as you may be alright after all (as anticipated).
