Presently, BlackBerry Messenger, or BBM, allows BlackBerry users to seamlessly exchange texts, audio, videos and pictures with each other. However, a number of cross-platform mobile messaging apps including WhatsApp, WeChat and Line have taken over as preferred choices since they are available on a variety of platforms. On the iPhone, BBM would also compete with Apple's own.

Kuo has also predicted that Apple could ship a lower-cost iMac desktop in Q2 or Q3 2014, as the current iMac sales were below expectations. He expects the desktop to take on Windows powered desktops and boost iMac sales by 10 percent to 20 percent.
