Snake Oil Salesman are just like corrupt politicians. They get your money or vote and you never hear from them again when they produce bad results.
Also, it's indicative to build a trusted network in order to have real success online. The more your partners trust you, the more beneficial it is for everyone involved, including the end consumer.
