Sharing WA, It is a Beautiful Thing. (Early June Launch)

Last Update: May 31, 2012

We are approximately a week away from one of the most exciting evolutions of Wealthy Affiliate, The Open Education Project.

As you know, we have evolved a great deal in the past couple of months and over the years our community has been about helping and about sharing. This “no holds barred” approach has lead to a TON of awesome contributions over the years, and recently with the OEP framework there have been several information gems posted on a daily basis within WA.

The problem is that this awesome content is not being leveraged to its full potential and there is no way for people within WA to benefit from their content outside of WA. That is why we are rolling out our latest SHARE functionality.

What can be shared?

Starting next week you are going to be able to share content (profiles, blog posts, training) with the outside world.

Anyones stuff can be shared.

(1) Training Tutorials - You can share any of the training tutorials within the Open Education Project. The person that comes to the page will see ONLY the very first page of the training which will add incentive to people

(2) Training Videos** - people externally will be able to view training videos. You can share the awesome videos within Wealthy Affiliate

(3) Blog Posts - You can share blog posts. The entirety of the blog post will be shown. There is awesome new content posted via blogs every single day which can be shared and leveraged!

(4) Profile Pages - You will be able to share your profile at WA. This will be a great method for showing others that you are an active member of the community. If a friend or someone that knows of your brand sees you are a member and can see your actual profile, they will be far more likely to join WA. You can also share other prominent members profiles within Wealthy Affiliate, another marketing angle.

When someone visits any of the pages you share, they will be shown the actual page of content. If they try to perform any action on the page, they will be presented with an offer to join. Guest users will not be able to browse WA, they will only be able to see the page that you shared with them. Each page is a unique “share” link for you, so it means people will only have access to what YOU want them to see.

This is going to prove to be very valuable to you as I will discuss in the next section!

**Webinars are not sharable.

What are the benefits of sharing content?

Sharing stuff could become Virally Profitable!!

People can now take part in the WA experience before having to take the 10 day trial.

See the value => Try it out (see further value and use full system) => Become a member

For example: let’s say a guest visitor reads a blog post on the latest Google Panda or Penguin update within WA. They see it as being very valuable and then go on to share that content with their social network, their friends, their list...on their website (could be anywhere).

Say they share it with friends via sharing it on a social network. Say 10 of those friends share it with 100 more friends. That is 1,100 people that are guaranteed to see the content.

When you share something at WA, you are sharing the content through your own unique link, whether this is within a social network like Facebook, Twitter, or through your email list. Any guest that goes on to “reshare” will also be passing your affiliate ID through, granting you credit for the referral for anyone that signs up.

For each free sign-up to WA you get $1 credited to your account and if they continue on to become a paying member, you get the recurring payment ($22.50/mth or $175/year) depending on the membership option they choose.

If 0.5% of people sign-up. You earn $5 for sharing ONE item in WA.
If 1% of people sign-up. $10 for sharing ONE item in WA.
If 5% of people sign-up for free. $50 potential earnings for sharing ONE item in WA.

You are GETTING PAID to share AWESOME content. How cool is that?

Can you prevent your stuff from being shared?

Yes, and there are definitely going to be situations in which you may want to do this. If you want to share a story with the “community only” or post a question that you do not want the outside world to see, or maybe you just want to offer some exclusive “member only” content, you are going to be able to do this.

Content can be turned on and off by the owner. However, there is very little benefit of turning content off because your content will not achieve reach. Also, you miss out on the rewards here within WA for your “share value” which is going to be added to the ambassador program algorithm.

There are going to be far more benefits to leaving sharing on than off which I will get into within the next section.

What are the benefits of allow people to share your content?

When you create content within The Open Education Project you will now have the potential to reach a far bigger audience than the one inside of Wealthy Affiliate. When you create a blog post or a training resource and ALLOW people to share it, you will reap a lot of benefits as a result.

Here are just some of the benefits that you will get from creating content:

(1) You get a follower every time someone joins through your blog/training/profile, regardless of whether or not you were the one that shared it initially.

(2) You can share your own content within WA and earn referral commissions ($1 per free signup, $22.50 for monthly upgrade, $175 for yearly upgrade)

(3) Improve your member rank within WA. It goes up as your content “share count” goes up as well as your following. Two components of the ranking algorithm.

(4) Build on your personal brand and industry credibility.

(5) Ambassadorship. The more content you create and the more valuable your content becomes in terms of sharing, likes, and comments, the better chance you have of achieving ambassadorship.

Instead of creating a post on your own website on any topic related to Internet Business, you may want to consider posting it within Wealthy Affiliate instead and linking to it from your site. This way you will be able to get far more reach and have an entire community behind your content, getting it out there, and benefiting you!

How Can You Share Content?

You do not have to create content in order to be able to share. As a member of Wealthy Affiliate you are going to be able to share any content that is “shareable”.

There is an unlimited number of ways that you are going to be able to share content from The Open Education Project, but I will provide you with some of the main ones.

Within the actual share module there are 4 Different ways you can share content with the click of a button:

(1) Facebook
(2) Twitter
(3) Google Plus
(4) Email (see example below)

You are also given a “shortened” URL that includes your affiliate code so that you can share the actual training anywhere that you like.

This could literally be anywhere.

Just a few ideas would be....
  • email blasts
  • on your websites/blogs
  • within other social networks
  • within forums
  • within questions and answer sites
  • within blog comments
  • within paid ads
  • offline on flyers and business cards
Basically ANYWHERE that you can put a link you can share WA.

Benefit of Creating QUALITY

Outside of the Ambassadorship program and the ability to earn “real money credits” for creating training, there is now even more incentive to create quality content.

Quality content has the potential to go viral and earn you a massive following here at WA. You can also spend time creating your quality blog posts and training within WA now and leverage it to create a substantial business.

Want your content to go viral? Want to attain a huge following and become a top member rank here within WA? The more quality content you create, the more people will share and the more content you will have to share. The upside potential is huge. Don’t forget, you’re earning $1 for every free sign-up when you share, and full commissions when those people realize the benefit of WA and join as a full-time member.

Businesses Will Be Created From Sharing AWESOME Stuff!

As a member of WA, you are going to have full reigns to the brand new sharing model that is going to have an unbelievable amount of potential. You are going to be able to EARN MONEY by sharing VALUABLE content. Something that has never been offered in the industry before and something that provides endless opportunity.

Do you think you could share the latest training on local marketing?
Do you think you could share the latest SEO techniques as they happen?
Do you think that you could share motivational blog posts about success and overcoming failure?

This is the easiest way to earn money we have ever seen!

Again, you are going to get PAID $1 for every person that joins for free through anything that you share. You are also going to get PAID from any subsequent referrals that derive from your initial share as your affiliate cookie will continue to be passed through! You are also going to get PAID full recurring commissions if someone decides to join WA as a paying member after their free 10 day trial!

This provides you with a brand new business opportunity and we look forward to seeing people benefit from this when it is rolled out in early June, 2012!

Share to EARN - it’s a brand new revenue model only available to members of WA!

Before I leave you today, here is an infographic of the "share model" that will visually outline how it works.

My question about the affiliate stats is not really in relation to the sharing or $1.00 commission that this post refers to. In other words, I have been using those banners that you emailed on my various blogs/websites that are specifically promoting the the 10 day Free Access. I have also been doing other promotions outside of my blogs promoting the 10 Day offer. I have no idea if any of the Hits from the promotions have signed up for the 10 Day offer because the affiliate interface does not show any tracking for that.

@Kyle - Just read this post you referred to in the Chat. Sounds Great! I noticed though in the affiliate stats that it does not have stats for how many people have signed up for the free 10 day offer. I have been getting hits from my promotions over the last 2-3 days, but have no idea if any of these "Hits" converted to a free 10 day trial.

There is a count within your top header (under the invited count), but we are also updating the affiliate dashboard tomorrow to show your "free sign-ups" in a nice graph. Stay tuned!

Sounds/Looks like a great idea and feature.
So if I understand correctly, when a visitor arrives via special link for a blog post for example, if they attempt to make a "post comment" or press "Like This" they're presented with a Join Now or Try for 10 days option?
kyle Premium Plus
Yeah, exactly. I think this will make a lot more sense when you can see and use the new system.

People externally are going to see an offer while visiting in the same way you are offered to sign-up to Facebook when you are not a member. Then if they click on any action item (link, comment box, etc) they will trigger the pop-up that you see on the homepage now.

Like Christian - I've read it a couple of times and I don't quite understand the model either for the same reason. If someone shares content I have written - that is with their link and so if someone subsequently signs up they get the commission? Is that right or perhaps I'm just misunderstanding something.
kyle Premium Plus
Yeah, that is correct. If someone actively promotes WA through content that was created here, regardless of the creator, they get commission if the person joins for free or becomes a paying member.

The benefits of creating content are very similar as to know but you will now be able to get reach with your content outside of WA (earn revenue through it), attract a much bigger following (as you are followed automatically by everyone that signs up through your content), an increase in brand and a higher rank (which is going to carry more impact and much more incentive as we get into the details of ambassadorship).

I think one thing thats not clear in your post is who benefits from this, the person who shares the content or the creator of the content.

For example I write an article and 10 other members decide they want to share it. Do those 10 people get the commission or do I get a commission? Or is there some kind of split so that both parties benefit?
kyle Premium Plus
As someone sharing, you will get commission for anything that you share, not the originator of the content. You can however share your own content.

The actual benefits to the "creator" are listed within the section outlined:

What are the benefits of allow people to share your content?

Have a read of those. For each person that signs up through your content you will get another follower here at WA, which means more reach. Share scores are also going to contribute to rank and ambassadorship which are going to be much larger than people think.

We have some announcements on where we are headed with this sometime in June.

Basically it is business as usual in terms of creating content yet there is more incentive added to it now and there is incentive and the capabilities to share content now.
Sielke Premium
Gotcha, thats what I thought but thanks for clearing that up.
