What Rockstars Can Teach You About Success!

Last Update: June 16, 2012

I went to a Bryan Adams concert last night and it was of course amazing. He is just on the beginning of his Canadian tour and stopped by Victoria as one of his first visits (being form Vancouver himself, a jump across the pond).

Bryan Adams has a worldwide following. He is an icon in his own right and sells out stadiums all across the US.

But why is he such a rockstar?

Is it simply because he is a good singer? No. There are tons of great singers out there, some of whom never make it. Yes, I would say there are some singers that have close to the same ability as Bryan, but they are still struggling to fill a local event.

Is he UNIQUE, yes. He isn't the same cookie cutter singer that everyone else, many of whom never make it. When one of his songs come on, you instantly know it is him. The same could be said for many other rock stars...when Sting or Bon Jovi start belting it out, you know instantly who it is. They are unique.

Is he LIKEABLE, yes. He is a great performer. There was not a boring minute in his show and to fill a stadium every time you offer a performance, you better perform. All great rockstars remain on top of their game every time they touch that stage. They don't put on mediocre shows.

Does he remain TRUE to himself? YES. He took his voice, his style, his story and ran with it. He didn't try to become someone else, he took his skills and talents and expanded upon those to become better version of himself.

Has he WORKED HARD for years to achieve this? Yes. Did he become a worldwide figure overnight? No. He has been at it for 30+ years and everything that he has done along the way has been cumulative. His success is continuing to grow. His following grows with every show even to this day. I have a new appreciation for him after watching him live. Piece by piece he is building upon his existing success. He couldn't sell out a local pub let alone a massive stadium when starting out, but his hard work has lead to a cumulative following and brand.

So although it is may not be relevant to what I do or what we do, you can definitely learn about your own brand and success by looking at others, regardless of the niche they are in. If you are unique, likeable, true to yourself, and work your butt off, amazing things can happen with your online business or offline business.

Hope you enjoyed this and I would love to hear your feedback! Also feel free to share this post with others! :)

I saw him in 85, in Paris. He was opening for Tina Turner. The boy's improved since then.

He actually brought up Tina Turner last night! ;) He has definitely continue to get better over the years at his craft, part of the cumulative process of becoming a rockstar.

Great post, Kyle. So Bryan Adams became an overnight success, after working at his craft for 30 years!

Ray Kroc of McDonalds fame was also said to have become an overnight success...his reply was, "that's true, but 36 years is a long night."

That is an awesome quote. Those that realize success also realize the perseverance it took to get there. Like Ray Kroc and Bryan Adams the success is gradual and cumulative that once it has happened it is tough to distinguish the actual "point" of success. Thanks for your feedback Juan.

Could not have said that any better you make a very good point and yes you can take a look at many successful people 99% of them worked their butts off and have been for a long time....not much happens overnight and to be true to yourself...no other choice....seen many shows never have seen Bryon....one day...

You typically don't hear about the hard work, you hear about the "end success" as the story is much more appealing. All success is preceded by some form of failure (and a series of them)....we all need to remember that.

Cheers Kyle, I am glad to hear you enjoyed Bryan's event. I got to see him live about 20years ago and had fun at his concert. I agree 100% with everything you said on your cool blog. Good vibes and hard work is a powerful combo in any niche.

Yeah, awesome man. Another thing that people need to realize is that a brand is cumulative and does not happen overnight...once you realize this the sky is the limit though (and I think this is something that you can fully appreciate with your music).

Thanks for your feedback Jamie!
