How Does Occupy Wall Street Expect to Get Anything Done without Clarity of Purpose

Last Update: December 01, 2011

If you know anything about what is happening with the social movement called Occupy Wall Street it is a LEADERLESS and FACELESS community of people who are the poster children representing the 99%.

They are supposed to be the voice of the views of the many who are fed up with the corporations involvement in politics and the greed of Wall Street with the help of the U.S. government that caused the financial crisis leading to foreclosures and high unemployment rates.

I personally can emphasize with what the protesters are trying to do but realistically I don't see how they expect to make any change in a system that is heavily regulated by the 1% and who exclude the mass majority of people who have no real influence.

One key thing that sticks out in my mind is that CLARITY of PURPOSE is the only way that this occupy movement can have a fighting chance to get political leaders to take them seriously.

The group's public encampments wasn't enough and by them not having a verifiable agenda, it will require that smaller groups break off into discussions of people with a variance of opinions.

Interestingly the whole social movements against corporate governance is nothing new and anyone who is a student of history knows how these types of social uprisings turned out.

I follow the principles of :

  • Belief
  • Potential
  • Action
  • Results

It is necessary to have those elements to see the true success of any endeavor we take up in our lives from activist activities to building an online business.

It's not that the movement is leaderless, it's that there are different groups of people who are fed up with the different and varying injustices the "controllers" impose on their lives. It's not just about ONE thing where you would have ONE person representing all. It's faceless because the issue at hand is not thought up by one person and then sold to masses like governments do, it does not have a self serving, greedy agenda or purpose, it's about opening up peoples minds for everybody. It is about telling those who control, that the people that are being controlled, are not happy about all types of injustices.

The reason why it is having no significant impact is that what keeps these countries rolling over is not being affected. The people and traders of these corporations are under control in one way or the other and if they keep on falling in line then all the shouting and disruption will not make a difference to the economic mechanism. People's attitudes have to change on a mass scale or where it is most effective, which is taking action on the daily contemptuous habits. I will not happen over night. However more and more people are beginning realize and speak out and it will come to a head some time. You cannot continue to take liberties with people and expect it not to come to a revolt. The Occupy movement has now spread ALL over the world.

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it and Yes it is time for people to stand up and do something to make changes in the way governments run this country, if everyone sits on their hands and become passive robots it will lead to worst place for our children to live.

I think if these people had a clue they would be protesting the government instead of corporations. After all, the government is the entity that gave them the bail out money

Your right it is interesting how as citizens we do not know all the information that we should to make informed decisions and if as a group we don't know what we stand for then it is just shooting in the dark.

There's no clarity of purpose because there are multiple agendas being represented. Not all of them are noble agendas. Some are just disruptive for the sake of confusing the real issue which is a misrepresentation of all Americans by government catering to special interest groups, such as banking industry, and neglecting the people supporting all of it with their taxes. I'm disgusted too. I wouldn't handle it the way the Wall Street protesters handled it. The way they've conducted themselves makes them look like rebel rousers and discontents, even when protest is necessary.

Its true that all of this is just "noise" to distract people from the REAL issues that need to be addressed and it becomes a emotional activity instead of being grounded in legitimate principles.

jatdebeaune, thanks for the comment, appreciate it. have a great day!
