The Power Of Writing!

Last Update: January 28, 2010

Lots of people in the internet marketing business will tell you that the video is becoming powerful.  There is no doubt.  However, what is still heavily dominating the internet for still a long long time to come is written content.

Don't be mistaken, written content is still VERY powerful. You can still grab an ebook under your arm, but you might not be able to watch a video anywhere, unless you have a lap top with you.  Article directories and blogs are more than ever content angry. That is why article marketing is big free advertising.

However, many new comers don't find writing a natural thing to do, and they are having a hard time with it.  So, if this is you, what can you do about it?

The first thing you need to do is NOT writing, it's reading. The reason why I am able to write articles on about any kind of subjects, many times for other people who hire me, it's because I do research.

For example, if I am asked to write an article about "solar system energy" which I know nothing about I will go on Google and type the subject of my article. One of the first results that will pop up is Wikipedia. There, you will find all the factual answers about the subject.

At this point, the last thing you want to do is write an article with all those facts. What you need to do is just read the whole Wikipedia page, just read and  digest your reading as you go and take a few notes.

Once  you are done with Wikipedia, click a few more links, or maybe go on Amazon and try to find some book extracts on the subject.  Just spend an hour or so, just reading.  Do not write at this time, expect for notes.

Once you are done reading, write as if you were trying to explain what you've read to someone.  In your writing try to insert your own opinion, your own point of  view about what you've learned. This is what will make your writing more personal,  or better said, it is what will make your article have more personality. This is what will make your article sounds different than all the blend articles out there!

Your articles are basically your own reflexion upon your research.

One thing you must do to become a good writer is write. The more you write the better you will become, and the writing will seem easier and easier as well as faster and faster as time goes on.  Writing is like exercise, the more you do it, the easier it becomes.

Because of my experience I can now read no more than 10 lines to come up with a 400+ article.  In the end noting in my article is what I read in those 10 lines.  Those lines where just to give me the spark, the idea that I needed, and then when I start writing it's like a snowball... it grows and grows with one idea coming after another, until the article is done.

This can happen to you with practice. This can happen to just about anyone, even those who said they can't write.

I do just about the same as you except it takes me a bit longer. I like to read off an on about a subject for about a week. I have a pretty boring job so I can think about what I have read then. Things start to gel in about 4-5 days. There have been times that I have got up in the morning and can write 2 or 3 articles on the subject in less than an hour... I know many can do that at anytime but for me it is quite an accomplishment.... Thanks for the tip and keep up the good work here.

This is a very good post. Something I'm considering now is doing actual research and possible learning about topics that actually interest me, for real. I foresee a possible eBook, at least. : )

Information gathering about topics that actually interest you, and then putting that information all over again in your own words and in your own way is a great consideration for writing articles, making websites, and making eBooks (at least)!! : )

This is a creative approach and a great way to make honest, very natural flowing articles. I like to feel the author's personal involvement in an article. You can pick up sincerity like radar. Makes you trust the person. If you trust, then you might consider buying whatever they are marketing.

very true. I have experienced it myself. Writing grows on you naturally. And the more you write about a subject, the more you learn. And the more you learn about it the more articles you can further write. You can pretty much keep on writing about a topic, The only reason you will stop is if you get sick of it.

Good points. Now I have to ask, do you use any particular speed reading method or scanning techniques? I generally try to read vertically straight down when I'm scanning. I studied Evelyn Woods for awhile and also learned to read words in chunks of two or three, sometimes four. That really cuts down eye movement and speeds up reading.
