Away from IM?

Last Update: May 02, 2012

I took the weekend off.  Yup, no phone, no internet, no how, no way.

I went to a place lost in time. Somewhere that the real world doesn't intrude into the peace and solitude. Was it hard? You betcha. (Nope not Alaska)

Here's the thing......My name is Labman and I'm an addict.  I've found the Internet and I'm addicted.

North Central PA was my destination.  It seems the population density is insufficient to get a cell tower on all of the mountains in the area.  I found one of those dead spots.  We were there to go canoein'

Fortunately, mother nature saw fit to provide some rain last week so the water level was sufficient for this excursion.  This was the 32nd year of the Annual Pine Creek Regatta.  I've made most of them.  Essentially, as one of the t-shirts says (yup we have t-shirts made) It's a drinking weekend with a canoeing problem. 50 of my closest buds. ( Actually I only see them once a year).  Time to get re-acquainted and have a good time.

I was away from the computer but still doing IM. It's really really hard to leave this stuff alone.

Everyone that I spoke with was a potential customer.  What were they into, what niches could they be interested in?  How could I, with my limited knowledge of this IM thing make their lives more fulfilling. Yup, IM doesn't stop when you leave the computer, it just changes to fit the environment. So what did I bring back?  Lots of new niches to explore, one potential local client and a location to explore with my IM efforts.  I expect not many people are doing local marketing in ........, PA( No Steve it's not P-burg)

We did have some nice experiences, I chased a Great Blue Heron down the creek for about 3 miles, saw a mink catch it's dinner, played with some Osprey and followed a Bald Eagle in it's lazy circles over the river.  I ate some excellent Venison, got a really small amount of sleep and thoroughly enjoyed myself. So the weekend away was not a waste of time in any way.

Thanks for listening.

Sounds idyllic. Nice that you're back

Idyllic would have been a few more degrees. It got really cold at night. Down in the 20's. Had a nice fire though.

P-burg sounds like a wonderful place! LOL.

Glad you had a great time, it sounds like a blast. And I can definitely hear you on the "always connected...even without a connection". It is tough to get away from something you enjoy doing and refrain from talking about it, which is completely OK.

Isn't it exciting to think that you enjoy this so much and you could earn a living in the process? I still have to pinch myself every day.

Wasn't in P-burg, but if you want to know how it is ask Steve. One day I'll make a full timer at this. That's the dream.
