Mystified

Last Update: February 26, 2012

I did a bit of research this morning.  I'm completely baffled.

January 2nd and January 26th I had over one hundred visits to Dog Training Rochester not bad for one day.  Problem is, I have no idea why.

I didn't change anything, I didn't add a blog post, I didn't make any adjustments at all.

The other days I have 2-3 visits.  One even got to 15.  This is the norm for the site.

Well, what could be the possible reason for this spike in visitors and....how to get this kind of traffic on a regular basis?

I'm mystified.

I know what you mean. I had a day where I had 875 visits about 3 or 4 weeks ago. The rest of the time I get around an average of 20, but some days I get nothing. I did post an article about 3 or 4 weeks ago, so maybe that is what happen. It blew my mind seeing that many visits in one day. Would be nice if that happen every day.
Any chance there was an article in the news for "Therapy Dogs" that day?

Hi Craig. Hope it's your increased popularity. A while back, I experienced an unusual surge in traffic on one of my sites, and it was as a result of someone hacking my guestbook. Could be bots. They way I found it was I consulted my host. Hope you demystify it. Also hope it's real traffic.

I have heard January is popular month for dog training, because so many people get puppies for Christmas, but as for the random dates...I have no idea, first day after a holiday for the 1st maybe?

Can you see how long the visitors were on your site for? Chances are if it were a second or 2 it was bots. I have had that happen to some local sites in the past. Also, can you tell how they arrived at your site? This info might be able to help you put it together more.

It looks like the search term for most of them is the Therapy Dog International. 57 were just unspecified so perhaps you are right. Hmm, I don't think I pinged that day.
I checked the bounce rate but don't recall what I saw
