Celebrity Mediocrity..what our youth see as attainable, what W.A. is NOT!

Last Update: June 26, 2012
The Kardashians. Snooki and "The Situation". 16 and Pregnant. The list goes on and on...
Medicocrity celebrated and pushed to the front of our children's faces via media.
Their accomplishments?

Inheriting money. Getting drunk. "Gym, Tan, Laundry (GTL)". Having pre-marital sex then having a film crew follow you around as you scream at your mother about what a bad parent she is (and yes, in most instances, she IS).

No hard work involved in this fame. Just who you know and "who you ..."

Work ethic and the fact that it takes time to achieve anything worth having isn't promoted. Be promiscuous, a sell-out, you may have a chance...

Short term glitz and glam for being a sleeze.

That's what 99% of the internet is these days too, when it comes to learning how to make money with websites, etc... get rich quick is the rage because that's what people are spoon fed on the popular tv shows!

That's NOT Wealthy Affiliate.

W.A. promotes actual effort. It has no guarantees except the great reward you will receive when you put forth the effort and see that using your brain and going out of your comfort zone gives you benefits bigger than an instant buck or two!!

Self esteem and character are not earned on your back in the "smoosh room" (on MTV's Jersy Shore). It's earned when you fall down and keep getting up.
I'm learning that too...

(BTW I have absorbed the Jersy Shore garbage through osmosis when my 16 year old asked to watch it once. One episode and I couldn't tolerate it again!!!)

Amen, me being part of the youth I dont see any rise in the motivation to wanting to be successful in the future all i hear at school is people wanting to party and what not. More people nee to think towards the future.

Why live to the fullest now when you can even legally drink or whatever people do for fun i say, build some great income at a early age and then live it up when you get a bit older

Yeah, you are an exception Mikal and when I was in school it was no different than it is now. Some young folks are ambitious and some young folks are still in the party stage...however there is no better time to think about your future and start working towards a prosperous one.

I agree with you, the younger generation looks up to the wrong people but something that is also unique to the younger generation is that they are not loyal to any particular brand (or in this case celeb). This may pose a big issue for facebook going forward if "something more interesting" comes along (Instagram is already serving as a replacement).

I guess you could say that Wealthy Affiliate brings conventional hard work, creativity and innovation to the new world of the Internet. Unlike reality TV is focuses on the actual reality of success. Awesome post!

Very well said. Am I the only one that can't stand Reality Shows? A cheap excuse instead good programming. Garbage In - Garbage Out!
