Determine Where Your Website Will Show Up In Google

Last Update: July 23, 2012
If you are building niche sites or any site for that matter, you need to determine how hard it will be to rank in the top SERP(Search Engine Results Page) position on Google.

What you will need:
  1. Firefox web browser
  2. SEOquake plugin for Firefox

You can probably use other tools for this but I like these. Using Firefox with the SEOquake plugin installed and turned on. Type your primary keyword into Google. For our example I am going to use "amazon webstore review". Do not put the quotes around it.

Looking at the SEOquake results, these are important:
PR: Google Page Rank
I: Pages that are indexed by Google
L: Links to the Page
LD: Links to the Domain

When you build a website your initial Google PageRank is n/a. Then it turns to 0(Zero) if you are lucky and Google likes you. You can see this on your own website if you have the SEOquake plugin turned on.

Looking at the search results on Google with the keyword "amazon webstore review".
1) PR: 3 I: 3,640 L: 5 LD: 4871
2) PR: 3 I: 3,640 L: 0 LD: 4871
3) PR: 0 I: 54,800 L: 0 LD: 18
4) PR: 0 I: 30 L: 0 LD: 94
5) PR: 2 I: 352 L: 0 LD: 74
6) PR: 3 I: 337 L: 0 LD: 1428
7) PR: n/a I: 314 L: 0 LD: 1106
8) PR: n/a I: 500 L: 0 LD: 5
9) PR: n/a I: 109,000,000 L: 65 LD: 414106861
10)PR: 2 I: 2,360,000 L: 0 LD: 117574

Looking at these results. Position 7 has a PR of "n/a" and L:0. This means they have no pagerank and no links to this particular page.

Now look at the Google result:
Amazon Webstore Sucks? Beware! Read This Report First | Even ...
Dec 19, 2008 – If you are considering Amazon Web Store vs BigCommerce for your ecommerce storefront, then you need to read this review first. Find out ...

That first sentence is the title tag. It does not include the primary keyword "amazon webstore review"

What can you draw from this? If you build a website that has a PR greater than "n/a" has more that one link and actually has your primary keyword in the title tag and in the article text you should be able to rank higher that #7 on Google for this keyword. I would bet much higher.
