June 12, 2012 - WA System Update

Last Update: June 12, 2012
Hello Everyone!

Today we released some great new functionality to WA that has been highly requested by many people, including Kyle and I!

Without further adieu.. here goes!

Email Notification Control:

Last week we went live with our new Email Notification system that keeps everyone connected. Interaction since then has been off the charts and people are getting answers to their questions faster than ever. As requested and as planned from square one, we now offer full control over which email notifications you receive to your email inbox.

You can manage these settings from the links in every notification email you receive, or directly from your Wealthy Affiliate account settings page. This is what options are currently available to you.

We strongly suggest keeping all settings ON so that you get the full experience of WA. I will certainly be leaving all notifications ON as I like to know when people leave me messages and when discussions are happening on items I’m involved with.

A Note for all Gmail users. As with most emails that you receive from a new email address, Gmail will in many cases send it to the spam box. Not to worry, all you need to do is take the email out of your spam box once and that will tell Google that you are expecting these messages. You only have to do this once so that you receive them to your inbox. This also tells Google that other people may want these delivered to the inbox and as our new sending email address gains popularity then all members will get notifications to the inbox. Help other gmail users by taking WA notifications out of your spam box! Another thing you can do is add our notification email to your contact list. You will receive notification emails from the address:

no-reply@notify.wealthyaffiliate.com

Multi-function Search now includes Blog Posts!

Since the very first day that we released the Open Education Project platform here at WA, we have had request to be able to search blog posts. Now within the options tab you have three options.
  • Member Search
  • Search Training Only
  • Search Blog Posts Only

Choosing these will change the search box so that you can find exactly what kind of content you are looking for.

For example if I press "Search Blog Posts Only" a filter will be applied to the search box.

By default when you perform a search it will deliver results with both Training and Blog posts included. The results may look something like this:

Reading other member blogs and the comments on their blogs is a powerful part of WA and something that is now possible. Have a question? Ask it in the search box, you will find relevant training, relevant blogs, and lots of answers that you can study and learn from!

Better Website Management

Building websites at WA using our integrated website builder "WordPress Express" and wordpress optimized web hosting platform is easy! We have always realized that the organization of the website area was lacking. Today we updated your website environment to include 3 tabs.
  • Websites
  • Domains
  • Support Tickets

Want to create a website? Click "Create Website" and this opens up WordPress Express. It is really that easy and it only takes a few moments to get your site up and running. You can even add a new domain to WA hosting right from within WordPress Express. No other website builder on the market makes installing your website this easy.

Want to add a new domain to WA? Choose "Domains" from the tabbed menu and click "Create Domain".

If you ever have trouble with a technical issue with your web hosting, click the "Support Tickets" tab and submit a ticket for us to review. This is the best place to get technical help because your support ticket passes through all the information we need to answer the question and resolve the issue if necessary!

-------------

These updates are a few of many that are scheduled! At WA we will continue to push forward with regular updates and upgrades to improve your experience and education.

As always we would love your feedback!

Cheers,

Carson

I thought I would be more overwhelmed by this feature; I now realize it has simplified everything. The emails are actually little "reminders" for where I want to focus!

Thanks for seeing a bigger picture than I could grasp. :-)

I'll be frank, I was considering canceling my subscription to WA because I felt I had grown beyond it...BUT this new email notification system has changed all of that. I never knew what I was missing by not logging on regularly

These changes have added the value I needed to stay.

I went through my Gmail Spam the other day and found a bunch of notifications about WA. I was really happy that they were there because I want to know when new training and other resources become available. Thanks for adding that feature. I look forward to using the other functions, too.

I use Weaver II on most of my sites. I just found pagelines and really like it because I can control a lot with just a click.

I am soooo glad I decided to stay here. You guys are making some wonderful changes. I have been busy exploring and enjoying the new features. If I can just get used to wordpress... I have used Dreamweaver,Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, After Effects,Flash and many more... but for some unknown reason I am not compatible with wordpress... must be a right brain and left side brain conflict. I will not be defeated by this software! (smile)

Have you read the WP tutorials here? Also, you can get answers quickly here usually. I had a question yesterday and Jay and others answered it. Also, just put your question in your search bar. Lots of people would have the same question. I bought a used WP for Dummies to use as reference. I have used it twice but it is easier just to ask on the net. I suggest that you choose a simple theme, add an About and Privacy Page and a page with no content called "blog." Install the SEO and Social plugins. Add posts and pages as needed, tweet and FaceBook them. You can add a menu by going to preferences and following the instructions. Pinging is automatic. I think it shows you that on the bottom of the Preference page (or some place). Don't worry about it. When you add content you can also scroll down and add a title, description and keywords. That help? John
