Introduction
=========
Right, well I suppose I'll give this WA Spaces thing a go.
I'll start from the beginning.
First the Earth cooled and then single-celled ....
Hang on, too far back. I'll start with my career.
By trade I'm an IT person. In fact, except for a few years of dossing about and taking crap jobs just after school, I've been in IT all my life (some of those crap jobs included: TV areal fitter, reporter (I lasted 2 days) and press officer)
In my IT career I've done all sorts of programming on mainframes and PCs in all sorts of industries, ranging from security services through large software houses to gambling channels on TV.
The latter years of my IT career saw a gradual move to less hands-on roles such as Project Management, Consultancy and I was even a Technical Director.
I was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90's and, although it's very mild at the moment, I had been thinking for some time about getting out of corporate life and starting up on my own, simply because if the MS got bad I could manage it better that way.
Self Employment
==============
Eventually, one in day in 2002 after a particularly bad journey to work, I just quit. Walked straight into work and told my boss I was quitting and he'd have the formal letter the next day. He thought I was joking, but I wasn't.
Explaining this rash act to the wife was interesting!
I started a web hosting company with a business partner and it was reasonably successful. In 2004, my business partner said he wanted to travel and I decided it was time for a change anyway, so we sold the company.
I started another company with a different business partner, but that didn't work out because I couldn't persuade this new partner that making money was more important than the technical tour de force he seemed to be on.
Internet Marketing
==============
In June 2006 I started in IM. By about Jan/Feb 2007 I'd say it was 'making me a living', although not a particularly good one compared to the large IT salaries I was demanding before leaving work.
I am not very good at IM and I don't think I'll ever be in the top echelons of IMers, but I'm good enough to earn a very respectable living from it.
I had my first $1,000 week in January 2007.
I had my first $1,000 day in June 2007.
As of July 2008 I make, on average, $1,300-$1,500 a day profit.
I get annoyed when people say they can't do this because I reckon if I can, anyone can.
My bad areas of IM are:
- finding profitable markets.
- exploiting markets fully and rolling out campaigns.
- researching markets effectively.
My good areas are:
- knowing and using adwords.
- copywriting on web sites (I get 50-60% CTR to the merchant usually).
When I can afford to, I'll employ someone to do the bits I'm weak at.
Social
=====
Socially, I like football (soccer) and cricket. Used to play both but now I just watch. I'm a Geordie, so I'm a passionate Newcastle United supporter, which generally involves more downs than ups.
I love to read: science, philosophy, science fiction, comedy, classics, thrillers and just about anything except romance. And I like a good film ... usually action thrillers but I'll watch most things except costume dramas and 'tearjerkers'.
I love travelling to places like India (been 3 times), Sri Lanka and Africa (been twice).
I have a border collie called Archie, 2.95 cats and sometimes I wear a hat.

8th spot? I'd like to see you guys higher than that,.
Im an Arsenal fan and I'd like to see my team stay together for at least 2 seasons!
I read you're a Adwords wizz? I sure could do with some help on my new account.... any advice would be great. I spent all day yesterday searching forums for my solution...but to no avail.

G'day Hugh,
Just wanted to quickly thank you for some awesome advice spread over the Adwords thread in the forum. You have saved me some costly mistakes when I started using PPC and before I joined PPC coach.
Cheers :)

Hi Hugh,
I just wanted to drop in and thank you for your input on the forums. I'm really busting my tail trying to make this work for me as fast as possible. My learning curve conflicts with that 'fast as possible' part though. I was surprised to see a list of your weaknesses considering the income you make with IM. Look forward to hearing from you. -Brian

Hi Hughdp: I want to do like you do. I don't really know how to write article. I used a software to write but still took me a lot of time. Today I did a ppc. there is no any result yet. No impression at all. But the quality score is ok, position is 1-3 page.
"I'll employ someone to do the bits I'm weak at." Here you mention someone to do the bits, I don't understand.

Hello Hugh:
How are you today? I used to have an adword ad. I got a lot of clicks, I spent $20 a day. My CTR(some of the keyword is about 100%. All the quality score are ok or great. the ad position is 1-3. I have no sale at all. That is before I join WA. I saw you profile said:

My good areas are:
- knowing and using adwords.
- copywriting on web sites (I get 50-60% CTR to the merchant usually).
=============================
I wish to get help from you. I need to make quick money. I will put 50% profit if I made to reinvest the ppc. I don't really like to write articles. I think that is too slow. Are you still here? I saw you join in 2006. I just join in June, 2009. Please help.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
