@Devan, I just use pinging moderately. This is the pinglist on my blogs. I use a plugin that takes care of this in the background. Pinging to all these manually would be to time consuming. I also have a php script on one of my sites that does this for my articles if I wish. I have a toolbar button set up for this in my browser. Again I only use when something is lagging. Most article sites do this for you.
