Let's Unsubscribe From Marketing Gurus' Lists!

Last Update: April 16, 2010

Yes I'm tired! I've subscribed like many of you to the list of a number (can't tell exactly) of so-called or proven marketing gurus 'cause I just thought they surely had great things in store for their list. Well some of them did I gotta admit, 2 or 3 tools or tips were really good and helpful but...

The problem is... they're "friends". lol

Guru A, B and C promote Guru D's product and then Guru D returns the favor!

So, I will unsubscribe from the majority of these lists but I have to compare them first and see which ones bring me:

  • a new light on my way of thinking internet marketing.
  • tools that save me time and/or money
  • tools that help me grow my business in an out-of-the-box way
  • motivational, inspirational ideas that I don't already have...

The thing is, this combination doesn't always happen but by mere laziness or "what if?" feeling, we often hesitate to unsubscribe and prefer to have 25 unread emails including 70% that don't bring us anything rather than (shit, what's 75% of 25... lol anyway) less emails but more valuable content.

Let's unsubscribe! And even if you think "what if the guy sends an awesome free tool to his list the day after I unsubscribed!!". Well, first, the best tool is your brain, second, if the guy hasn't already sent you something of great value, he might not do it tomorrow and if he does, someone will talk to you about it and if not, well, that's life, keep moving forward and don't always wait for someone to give you what you already have or can create.

Just my two cents, as usual... :)

The inbox that they all use to get at me is like a frightening attic that is full of stuff that I put aside for when I have time to address it. Thanks Louise. You liberated me.
Great post, Louise. Thanks for pointing that out!

I agree with you Louise... 110%

Although they make good research and intel (if you're in the IM niche), they are a distraction at most. You have everything that's needed here.
