WTF WA? You Are Killing Me!

Last Update: February 03, 2010

Hey what up everyone?  Listen, I need your help here.  I cannot log into the WA forum and I am getting absolutely no help from WA Support.  Even though I have repeatedly emailed them about this.  But before we go any further here I would like to make a quick note for people new to WA.

This is the first time I have ever had a problem at WA in 9 months.  So no I am not trying to slam on WA or anything and I really loathe to talk shit here about them but enough is enough already.

Okay, so I havent been able to log into the WA Forum in over a week.  This is really pissing me off as I tell all of my referrals to pm me when they join so that I can show them the ropes of WA.  The following is an email exchange that I have had going on with WA Support.  Please check it out.  It speaks volumes...

Hello.  Haven't been able to log into the forum all day.  Thanks.

Them on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 12:22 PM -

Hi, To run Wealthy Affiliate more efficiently please install Firefox.  Sometimes Internet Explorer security settings do more harm than good. Also, please make sure you do not have any security software such as Norton internet security installed on your machine.

Use the following link to download Firefox for free:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ firefox/

Also, make sure you delete your cookies and clear your cache (CTRL + F5) and then try logging back in.

Please let me know if you have any further issues and I will be happy to help!

Me on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 2:53 PM -

Yeah I havent had an problem using Chrome before this.  I just donwloaded FF and it will not let me log in to the forum either.  This is what it says:

"Oops.. We Could Not Keep You Logged Into The Forum

There are many different reasons why you may get logged out of the forum from time to time. Below is a list of ways to log back in if you see this page.

  1. Close this Window and re-open by clicking the "Forum" button from within the members area
  2. Clear your browser cookies, cache or temporary Internet files.
  3. Download the FireFox Browser at www.firefox.com

Internet Explorer security settings, Anti-Virus / Spyware software, and Internet Security Software are the most common causes of not being able to remain logged into the forum here at Wealthy Affiliate. Please try the above mentioned solutions before contacting us for support.

Please Contact us if you are still unable to log into the forum after trying the above solutions:

support@wealthyaffiliate.com"

I use Google Chrome for my browser and using FF didn't work.  It's not my anitvirus as I have had the same since I joined and never had any problems with the WAforum or any other auto login.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

From this I recieved no reply so I emailed them again....

Me on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 11:33 PM -

Yeah, so I still cant log into the forum and am awaiting a reply.  Tried Fire Fox, IE, and Google Chrome.  Please let me know as I have referrals joining WA and I tell them to pm once they join and now I can see the pm's building up.  Thanks.

Them on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 12:29 PM -

Norton Internet Security is most likely the issue. It causes all kinds of problems for forums and dynamic sites like Wealthy Affiliate. I suggest you addwealthyaffiliate.com and my.wealthyaffiliate.com to the safe list within the setting of Norton Internet security so that the system stops disabling functionality

Me on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 5:09 PM -

My Internet Security is not blocking WA.  There are no sites in my block list.  I haven't had a problem in 8 months running the exact same softwares and setups.  I cannot log into the forum and I am starting to get crabby about it.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Once Again No Reply

Me on Sun, Jan 31, 2010 at 2:15 PM -

Can you tell me how to do this because I cannot figure it out.

No Reply Again So during this debacle I started another email exchange with them as I had another question about my commissions because at this point I want to drop WA as I am extremely pissed.

Me on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 11:20 PM -

How long is the hold on a $175.00 commission.  I havelooked around at WA and cannot find the answer.  Thanks.

Them on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 12:30 PM -

You can cash out your commission every month.  If you have any further questions, please contact Kyle or Carson in the forum via PM

Me on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 4:48 PM -

No.  I am asking about how long you hold the $175 WA commission from a One Year Sign Up..  I got one last month on the 28th and it is still pending 30 days later.  I want to know if it will be released for Feb 1st or not.

Also, Since i cannot log into the forum since the 25th how am I supposed to ask Kyle or Carson?  I emailed you twice to ask about it and got the standard response, oh try FireFox.  Thats didnt work.  I told you I tried that and it didnt work.  I got no response.

Please let me know or give me a number to call as I am sick of playing email tag about this.  Thanks.

Surprisingly enough, I recieved no response.  At this point I am really pissed and not surprised that they will not answer me.  So I say wtf I'll try them again.  Maybe someone will finally help me.

Me on Mon, Feb 1, 2010 at 7:53 PM -

I have emailed WA support repeatedly and have no answers yet over the course of a week.  First off, I cannot log into the forum and I have been told by WA support:

"Norton Internet Security is most likely the issue. It causes all kinds of problems for forums and dynamic sites like Wealthy Affiliate. I suggest you add wealthyaffiliate.com and m y.wealthyaffiliate.com to the safe list within the setting of Norton Internet security so that the system stops disabling functionality for you."

Could you please explain to me how I am supposed to do this?

Secondly, I want to know how long WA holds the commissions for the year long subscription?  I have had a $175 commission pending since Dec. 28th, 2009.  I have asked WA support about this and was told:

"You can cash out your commission every month.  If you have any further questions, please contact Kyle or Carson in the forum via PM"

Obviously that is not the case as I have pending payments from over a month ago.  Also, since I cannot log into the forum I cannot pm anybody.

Please let me know the answers to these questions.  Thanks.

Them on Tue, Feb 2, 2010 at 12:46 PM -

Our records show that you were last able to log in today, February 2nd.

All of the support and coaching that Kyle and Carson give to members is within the forum inside your Wealthy Affiliate account. This is also where you will find all of the training resources and be able to communicate with fellow members.

If you would like to contact either Kyle or Carson, please send them a Private Message in the forum by clicking on the "members" button, then on Kyle or Carson's name, then on the PM button in their profile. They will be more than happy to help you from there.

Please make sure that you do not send the same message to both Carson and Kyle (due to the large volume of questions they get). I assure you that they will get back to you!

I hope this helps you out and please let me know if you have any further questions. :)

Me on Tue, Feb 2, 2010 at 1:15 PM -

I cannot log into the forum at WA.  The last time I tried may have beeen 2/2 when you checked but I assure you I cannot log into the forum.  I have repeatedly emailed about this.  I cannot log in.  Would you please tell me what to do about this.

Them on Tue, Feb 2, 2010 at 1:34 PM -

Okay.  NO SHIT!  You already told me this crap. But...

Me on Tue, Feb 2, 2010 at 3:23 PM -

I have tried all of those solutions. I have had Norton running since I joined last June and have had no problems until now.  How can I add WA to the Norton Safe Lists so it works correctly.

Them on Tue, Feb 2, 2010 at 3:34 PM -

Norton causes all kinds of problems for forums and dynamic sites like Wealthy Affiliate. I suggest you add wealthyaffiliate.com and my.wealthyaffiliate.com to the safe list within the setting of Norton Internet security so that the system stops disabling functionality for you.

wow, this sucks. It does sound from the oooops message you get from the forums code that there is something locally going on with your computer. Have you tried completely reinstalling chrome or firefox?

Norton isn't the problem. I have Norton - I have no problem going into the forum. FF browser sucks crap. I hate FF. I use IE and MSN. I noticed at ne point where you said you did NOT have WA blocked in Norton but have you "white listed" them with Norton? White list them and it may help - may not.

If it were me I would write support back and ask to speak with someone who still has their brain intact. You know a person who can actually read, understand what they read and has the ability to actually write a thought out answer back without using a pre-written form letter answer. However ...

I am not politcally correct so some whould view my approach as that of an inferior species but I can tell you this: In important issues or when I simply do not have the time or patients to contend with inept incompetents I opt for blunt and sometimes very direct messages.

I have heard people say they have problems receiving answers from EZA when there's an account problem. I had a problem - about 2 weeks ago. They suspended my account over an issue. I worte them a very DIRECT, no holds barred letter and the issues was resolved within HOURS and my articles published immediately. What I am trying to say in this long winded response is that:

You don't always catch more birds with birdseed. A gun works better.

For one thing I wouldn't run any Norton products. I strongly dislike anything Norton/Symantec, because I've had to support them professionally. As a free alternative I would try www.clamwin.com, it works and it leaves me alone.

Secondly, I would download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from www.malwarebytes.org. Update it and run a quick scan. Remove any threats you get there and reboot the machine.

If that doesn't take care of your problem maybe I can give you some help later on, remotely. I use Google Chrome personally and there are some usability glitches on WA's site.

But I've never had any serious problems with the forums. You can mail me at mcguire.ian@gmail.com if you still need help.

Okay, so I didn't read the entire post - but try clearing out your session cookies as the forum software that WA uses heavily relies on cookies.

Apparently there is a limit to what you can write in these blogs posts and this post has been cut off. My point with this post is to see if anyone else can help me with this problem. I cannot be the only one running Norton here. Let me know. Thanks.
