Messed up day...

Last Update: June 12, 2011

The day was supposed to be a celebration.  My cousins daughter had graduated from college.  Lots of good food, family, beer, kids, and fun.

That all quickly changed when my 90 year old grandma has a heart attack on my cousins couch and dies.   Of course, there is no "shock" when someone 90 years old goes, but it is still a surprise when it happens right in front of you and without warning.   One sudden grasp at her throat, and that was it.

I am glad I made it to the party.  I am glad I brought my kids for her to see.  I am glad I was there with her while she took her last breath.  She was a tough woman.  She lived at her own house alone.  She frequented her favorite river boat casino twice a month for some slot action.  She lived for our family parties, and she decided that her time to go out was at a great family party, surrounded by loved ones.

Oh, Josh, I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. 90 isn't all that old anymore. Well, it's hard to lose your grandmother at any age. Mine was 107 when she died. She was in great shape until she was 100. Your grandma had the right idea about living fully and she wound it up at a party. May she rest in peace.
