Life - One Day At A Time!

Last Update: May 30, 2012
Why do we take life so serious. Look all around you, everyone is so far in debt that they have to work 60 and 80 hours a week to pay for all the material things we think we need. No time for true serenity and solitude, no time to enjoy life and the beautiful world around us. Society dictates to us how to live our life, and we follow suit, without even thinking. Always got to be the best at everything, so we can have the edge on our competition, instead of helping the next person, we have become completely self-centered, miserable, and the cycle continues and progresses from one generation to the next. What can we do about this travesty? How can we find a balance in our lives?

As each generation moves forward and as technology continues to move a lightening speed, we come to expect more and more as a society. Gone are the days of sitting down for dinner and having an actual conversation. We don't have time for that...are you kidding! Instead we are busy working to pay off our expensive cars, clothes, mobile devices, stuff....stuff and more STUFF.

If you compare our standard of living to that of 30 or 40 years ago it is only increasing. I thought that Moores law only applied to technology, but the material things that we all come to expect and that is driven by in many cases "debt" seems to follow this same trend. Exponential expectations!

This is true for most of people. A few years ago I was deployed and I realized something. I never take the time to enjoy what I've been blessed with. I live in Hawaii and I take it for granted. Since then, I force myself to go and take a break a few times a week. I just go walk on the beach or take a hike and just sit somewhere in nature. It helps me to remember that I have one life and I've been blessed tremendously. No matter what happens out in the world it's not worth to lose my life in the busyness.
