Pain: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
In life, there's good pain, bad pain and ugly pain.
Good pain = Don't stop moving
Yesterday and today, I did a basic routine of push-ups, squats, sit-ups, burpees, and medicine ball throws. Simple exercises but boy, are my muscles sore. I find it more painful to move from sitting in one position for awhile, like getting out of my car after driving, yet if I stretch periodically, I get relief from the muscle soreness.
Essentially, whether it's muscle soreness after exercising, the pain of failure, frustration of not not being able to learn something or another type of pain, good pain really is 'no reason to stop moving' pain (even though you may really feel like not moving).
Bad pain = Stop doing what you're doing/change direction
Bad pain for example may be the 'the pain of not trying'. Another example, is the pain or discomfort you may feel in your knee or ankle or elbow while your are exercising or doing an activity. It's either a potential injury or an injury.
Essentially, if it's one of the types of pain I described or another type of pain, bad pain is really 'have to change' pain. If it's regret, you have to stop what you're doing or not doing, change direction or start moving. If you're exercising or doing an activity, you need to stop what your doing or adjust what your doing to prevent an injury or further injury.
Ugly pain = Written in stone forever
Ugly pain for example may be the 'pain of regret', the pain of never telling someone [...X...] before the person died unexpectedly or your dreams that go to the grave with you. Dreams you never tried to realize, to pursue, dreams you never spoke about, or dreams so buried deep down inside of you that you simply brushed them aside when they tried to rise up within you.
Essentially, ugly pain is permanent. It's associated with opportunity that is lost forever, the death of someone or your own death. Never forget...you have a finite amount of time. It's so easy to take time for granted.
Keep moving and don't give up!
Thanks for listening to me rant.
