What to talk about....

Last Update: June 12, 2010

It's kind of funny and I know my family would be looking at me like I've lost my mind, but I've run into a bit of a challenge that I wasn't expecting.  You see, I was a chatterbox as a kid (at least that's what my mom tells me), and now I don't know what to say or write.  I can come up with niches and keywords, got millions of ideas.  But when I try to put thoughts together on screen or paper I am having a heck of a time getting anything to come together.

I've come up with a few possible reasons

1)  I'm just over thinking everything (which is something I tend to do a lot of)

2)  Being a stay at home mom for over 5 years now with no social life, I just don't know how to communicate with grown-ups anymore

3)  Afraid of people reading what I write and thinking I sound like an idiot

4)  Simple writer's block

5)  Possibly all of the above

So my guess at this point is I need to just keep trying to write (or type), until I start to get more comfortable with the process and  sharing my thoughts or ideas.  This is where my WA space is going to help me out a lot.  It feels like a safe place to get back into learning to communicate and write again.

FYI this little post took over 1/2 hour to complete.

I have the very same problem, and blame the very same reasons. One piece of advice i read once was to not think too much about it and to just start writing (I think I read that from Pot Pie girl but not positive it was her) The few pieces of writing that I have done so far have not been too bad. and with some reviewing, editing and polishing I've been somewhat proud of them. I've never considered myself a writer and it has never come easy to me. But.... It can be done. Just sit down and regurg whatever comes to mind and then it can be cleaned up and improved upon. Good luck

Hi slepage. Two sources of blog ideas for me: reading and replying to forum posts & requests & or responses to buddy requests. When doing either of these, it occurs to me that it would make a good blog post. I haven't started a blog at WA yet, or anywhere else on the web, for the very reasons you've stated here. However, my birthday is this week, so I've decided to make my first bog post on WA a goal for that day. ~ Jule

Thanks Jay, I will definitely give these a try. I know with time and practice (and confidence) the words and ideas will start to flow. Mindset is everything isn't it :) Conceive. Believe. Achieve.

It's all about mindset. This is very common, do don't feel alone. Here are a few tricks that may help you:
1) Record yourself - talk about your niche and record it
2) Try writing an email to a 'friend', this can be a real or imaginary friend.

By using these mindset videos, you may overcome your writing realities.
