How To Convert A Power Point To Video

How To Convert A

PowerPoint  Presentation

Into A Video

All you need is a copy of Microsoft Power Point (any version) and the ppt file.  You will also need a webcam or microphone if you want to have audio or video in your presentation.

Let get started:

First, open your Power Point presentation file inside PowerPoint and switch to slide show menu to setup the exact time duration for each slide.  You have two choices here:

  1. Use Record Narration if you want to include audio in your presentations.  Record your voice as you move through the slides and say yes when your are prompted to save the changes.  I find that if I write a script for each slide it goes a lot smoother and easier to narrate.
  2. UseRehearse Timing for silent Power Point videos.  This option lets you define how long a slide should display on the screen before the presentation moves to the next slide.

Don't forget to hit the record button.

When completed just save your PPT Presentation to a file on your hard drive.

Now that you saved your presentation go to authorstream.comAuthorStream is a PowerPoint Hosting service where you ca upload PowerPoint files as large as 1GB.  And its FREE.

Step 3:  When you are done uploading the PPT file to the web,AuthorStream will convert the Power Point file into an MPEG4 video (mp4) that can be durectky uploaded to Yourtube or even watch it on an IPod.

The process will take a little time to upload but you;ll get an email notification as soon as your PowerPoint video is ready for downloading from the web.

The conversion takes a little time as I said but it will definitely be will worth the wait.  The quality of the video created from PPT files is excellent.

There's more as when you do the conversion from PPT to video, AuthorStream will also create a video podcast version of your presentation that can be directly imported into ITunes.

Talk about VIRAL.

Of course if you have a budget then you can use a screen recording application like CAmtasia Studio to record Poser Point Presentations as video on your desktop.

However, I would assume that many of you are on tight budgets and this form of getting a power point presentation onto the internet in a video form is by far the most economical way of doing it.

When it's all completed it should come out like the following.

Now, wasn't that easy.

So well done, so clear. Thank you ! Have you thought of publishing this in WA as a tutorial? Lots more people will find and make use of it. I have bookmarked this post so I can find it again, but the tutorial section is so well set up for that.
Thanks again !Diane, reefswimmer
