Hello Everybody,
My name is Carl. I was born in NE Pennsylvania near Scranton. (Go Steelers!) I grew up there. My father was a machinist, and my mother was a stay-at-home mom. I helped my father in the shop sometimes, but my real passion was electronics, so I hung around with my Uncle who worked at RCA. I leaned from him as we repaired TV's and other electronic equipment.
After graduating from West Side Tech in '76, with a major in electronics, I continued my education in Allentown, PA at Lincoln Tech. After graduating there, and receiving my ASEE degree in electronics, I was hired by Data General in Westboro, MA. So I moved there in '78 (Go Patriots.!) That was great for about 20 years, then I got laid off, and alot of the high tech industry was leaving MA in droves in the 80's.
During that time in MA, I got married (in 1980), and we had 2 boys, Scott & Christopher. I also was head projectionist at a local drive-in theater. You can look it up online MendonTwinDriveIn.com. Check out the 1958 wurlitzer jukebox on their web page. I restored it for them for the 50's theme of the snack bar. That was another one of my cool hobbies.
Well, since High Tech was getting slower and lay off's were common, I decided to shift gears, and became a franchisee of SUBWAY. We were what they called a "C" store. We were in the same building with Dunkin' Donuts and a convienience store right off a major highway. Well, we did good for about 3 years, until Subway decided to build other stores close to me, and steal about 30% of my traffic. The store closed down in Dec of 2008. Thinking of becoming a franchisee?? Talk to me first..!!..Please..
During this time though, I was also going to aviation maintenance school at East Coast Aero Tech in Dedham, MA. After going through a divorce, I got my Airframe & Powerplant Certifications, and was hired by General Atomics in Palmdale, CA during one of the school's job fairs.
So I moved to CA (Sorry...I still root for the Patriots.!!), and have been here ever since. I got re-married to a wonderful lady...Her name is Sylvia. We meet at a local church, and got married almost a year later. The wedding plans were made while I was on deployment overseas.!! So now I work full time as a DOD contractor for the Army & Air Force, supporting the UAV efforts CONUS & OCONUS.
The baby picture you see on my profile is our Grandson. His name is Andrew. That picture was taken when he was about 1 year, but now he is 2 years old, and so smart.
I have been looking for an opportunity to work online for some time, but there's alot of '"junk" out there, as you probably know. I stubbled onto WA, while I was looking for something else, and checked it out. You know, I couldn't find anything negative about it.?? Seemed everyone only had good things to say about it...so I figured I'd give it a try, although I really don't have much of a creative, inovative mind, so it might be quite a challenge for me, but..what the heck...let's see if an old dog really can learn new tricks..!!!
My hobbies and interests are: Motorcycles, JukeBoxes, Camping and Classic Cars.
I guess I'm rambling about now, so let me close by saying, God Bless You, keep in touch, and keep on plugin'. Your Newbie...for Nov '09.....Carl
