2012 - Day 015 - In Brazil Taking Off My Skin

Last Update: January 15, 2012

I was travelling on foot with Roy (my brother.)  We were walking through very narrow streets with dilopidated buildings on both sides.  (I saw a video of a Brazilian street in a very cramped place and I think this is where this came from.)  In places we were walking on a ledge and others, up and down concrete steps that made up the streets.

Roy and I went into an open restaurant and got a meal there.  I think there was another person there with us because Roy wouldn't pay any attention to me and was hearing nothing I was trying to tell him.  I got up and left him there.

I was seeing baked beans somewhere along the line and was associated with the restaurant.  I looked back.  I could see my brother sitting on the high chair (not a baby's high chair.)  The restaurant was painted a bright yellow inside and it was well-lit up.

I retraced our steps back to where we had come from.  There was the ledge again that had to be crossed.  It was if it were a very narrow side walk and the street had fallen away into a chasm.  When I got near I could see the building adjacant to the sidewalk.

There were bake beans flowing down from the roof of the building from one end of it to the other.  They were running down the entire front of the building, completely covered by the stuff.  I had to go that way to get to where I was going.

I stepped into the bake beans as they flowed over the ledge and down into the hole and I had to find places to hang onto to get across.  It was a messy ordeal but I got across.

Suddenly I was with my brother again.  I found that the skin on my arms had turned brown and was able to peel it off.  There was a brand new skin underneath.  I peeled all of it off from my shoulder down to my fingertips from my left arm.  I did it on my right arm but it came off in a strange pattern...almost like looking at the ridges on fingers through a microscope.  It had diamond shapes alternating with short dashes...rows and rows of them.  These occurred in the direction I was pulling off the skin.  I had a Playtex Living Glove on my right hand.  It was yellow and it came off with the skin.  It all went with the rubbish.

That's the way it was.  I awoke from the dream because the radio came on as I set that rather than the alarm.

It is very unknown to me (other than the Brazilian street scenes) what this dream means.  I tend to get ignored in waking life.  It is either from not having earned respect or that I generally don't have relevant things to say.  It's something to work on and I have been for years.  This was a very strange and surreal dream and I wrote it.

Hmmm, the meaning of dreams. Well, the baked beans are probably a manifestation of crossing a slippery slope. Perhaps wading through the shite... Hard to say. Maybe the removing of your skin symbolizes stripping off the old and presenting a new front to the world. The pattern> perhaps you are repatterning yourself for the new way that you look at the world.... Just a couple of thoughts. As you probably well know. Dream symbology is a very personal experience so these may be all wrong. Only you know for sure. You are trying to tell yourself something...try to listen.
When capturing these dreams in writing, they sure look different but are quite shocking at times. When experiencing the dreams they seem more normal. Writing them down really reveals things one might not ever find having not done so. You know, that's a very good insight, even though they may be off. You could be spot on in some areas. The bit about the patterns was quite interesting. Why one arm was so pure and clean and the other resulting in these striped patterns. In the dream it was so nonchalant of an experience...until I wrote it. When I peeled the old skin, whatever direction I went with it, the striping was perpendicular to it. I don't remember seeing the striping on anymore than my upper right arm near the shoulder, bicep area, etc.
