Why 95% Never Make the Grade!

Last Update: March 02, 2011

I had been on a blog today which was all about "I Hate My Job!"

I responded with a post.  If it helps anyone here, then I've accomplished my reasoning for putting the post here as well.  Enjoy...

This is certainly a big problem worldwide and you've hit the nail on the head! Here in the United States about 79% of everyone in the workforce are disengaged with their jobs.

I've written an entire book about this problem and things you can do about it!

1. Find out where your passions lie.
2. GET EDUCATED!
3. Pursue your dreams and monetize them!

It's not as easy as 123, but most people can do this if they put their minds to it.

Today, more than ever, we have more opportunities to get rid of the drudgery we call "our jobs"

 Job Security?

The problem is, so many people stay in their jobs because, to them, it means security. Problem is, this "security" has eroded! A single wrong word or misdeed can get your income shut off faster than you can blink your eyes! This is no understatement!

Another HUGE problem is that most people are still following Industrial Age advice: Go to school, get good grades so you can land a good job with benefits and a pension, Work in that job for 40-or-so years and then retire.

Problem with this is that it's no longer a valid piece of advice...just ask 95% of the entire population why, after all this, they are sick, tired and broke...and will go to their graves that way...many of them with regrets.

Conformity to the Wrong Group

People conform. We all do...it's human nature and the tribal thing within us. However, most people conform to the wrong group...the 95% rather than the 5% that owns and controls 95% of all the wealth (in the US.)

Many of us live lives of "quiet desperation" as Henry David Thoreau (if Ihave the right author here,) We are barely scratching by. Most of us live beyond our means and like to flaunt our wealth (however little that is.) Most of us discount the fact that it is our families, our children that pay the price when their moms and dads have to spend most of their time in jobs they hate...only because they think this is something we are "supposed" to do.

For the wealthy this is not the case. It's obvious many rich people have their health and happiness. You might not even know the neighbor next door is a millionaire because he doesn't show his wealth.

Education Holds the Key!

But for most of us who are in jobs we hate, there is one sure-fire answer for this...EDUCATION. Not just any education, but the right kind of education. Our schools have failed us! There are AA and BS Grads that cannot manage their money, wind up broke. Folks, I'm talking about Ivory-League students here!

Why are some of these bossed around by practically uneducated bovine bosses? What have they missed? What do folks continue to miss?

They have not followed their passions. They have allowed themselves to be pulled into the rat-race. Folks, you and I are made of the same stuff! We are made of the same stuff the wealthy are!

Why???

EDUCATION! Did we get the right or the wrong education? Today there is some very empowering information behind plain doors right here on the Internet...but they get passed by because the flaunted and sensational doors are more attractive!

Note that I'm not against employment...just seeing people (and myself) in jobs we hate! Employment, if it is suitable to one's needs (not just a paycheck) and one is passionate about what he does in his or her job, that's fabulous!

Hey, thanks y'all for posting here! It is always a pleasure to see others with the same mind! It's also great to see things from the mind of others that I have not thought of before! I began writing up a linkwheel yesterday...that is, planned out every part of the linkwheel and began writing the articles all in one place. I've gone a ways into it...on the way to work I was thinking about the lay-out I have made...Lo and behind! I have my third book right in front of me! It will be entitled as part of my "Beyond Series!" I've blown it for the $1 promotion, I'm afraid! I just did not get on the stick fast enough. I have no list and just did not feel like going all over the Internet and writing blog posts all over the place. @DABK Ha! I had to look up the term "oxymoron." now that I know what it means, I can now reread your post. You are one hell of an intelligent person and I enjoy getting replies from you...they always are insightful, sometimes blunt, but always helpful! Now I know that you mean the job/security are two completely opposite term! Most people, I presume think it's secure even though a superior can shut off your income in the twinkling of an eye! Sure everything has inherent risks. I say, calculated risks, but to put all your eggs in the employment basket is not a calculated risk...it is plain stupidity...yet untold millions will swear by it!

Organized knowledge has done great by many people. And job security is an oxymoron. I concur. Hard to get people to believe it.

I do know people who think getting $4,000 a month from a job is security. Getting $100,000 in March and $45,000 in October (as commission, as profit from selling a business, as anything not job, gambling or inheritance) is not security.

Because after you get the 100k, you do not know the exact day when you'll get the 45K.
The true education that we need is only available from true mentors and guess what if you find them, and ask, most of them will teach you for free! Weird isn't it? I just earned $350 while eating breakfast, where other than WA would I have learned how to do that?

Education - yes. We are all pushed down the traditional education route which trains us to be one sort of employee or other. We work for money but are not taught how to manage that money. We are not taught how bank loans work, mortgages, credit cards etc etc. We are sent out to produce and make money and are not given the slightest piece of information on how to handle the stuff that we get for our work. This is why so many people are broke even after many years of working. We are taught only how to help the system and not how to help ourselves. Shame.
