3.99 for .coms at 1&1 Domains
Last Update: July 20, 2012
The 99 cent special is over. It lasted through yesterday, and I bought a few more. Now the .coms are 3.99 for the first year.
With 1&1, the privacy option is free as opposed to paying six dollars for it at GoDaddy. The only thing is at 1&1, you have to manually select the privacy option, so be sure to look for the radio button where you can do this.
Under CUSTOMER DETAILS when you get ready to pay for your domain, you will see these three choices:
Use the above data to register your domain?
Create new contact data to register your domain?
Register your domain privately? More Information
Choose this last option for domain privacy.

Thanks for sharing. I never new 1&1 let you register domains privately for free. The last time I registered a domain there it seemed like it took it a long time to update the DNS records whenever I changed the nameservers. Godaddy seemed a lot faster.
