Complete Confusion

Last Update: November 02, 2010

Hello Everyone,

I joined WA  about a week ago and I can tell you there sure is a lot more to affiliate marketing than I origionally thought!   I have been extremely overwhelmed on all of the information and find myself extremely confused.  There are so many online scams stating " I make $30,000 a month using this one method and no website needed."  Maybe some techie has been able to but I'm just and average joe.

I really hope that I don't sound like an idiot but I am really struggling trying to find a niche that I am passionate about and I am avoiding trying to sell a niche that I will have to lie through my teeth to sell.  I am not saying that all niches are that way but most niches I find are lies and  you could find them for  free if you just spend the time researching on blogs and google. I realize that people do not want to do all of the research involved in order to find their information and that they would rather pay for it..

I have been following the training tools on the getting started and I have bought a domain name and yet I regret getting my domain name because I want it to be revelant to the niche that I choose.  I have researched niches and blogs to try and relate them to my profession in the automotive world but it just seems to not be popular... Imagine that! LOL!  The only niche that I have found that is close basically bashes mechanics saying that we all are crooks and that we cannot be trusted..

I really want to get this figured out and am very eager to do so.  I do not give up on anything and hope that some of you may have some ideas or words of wisdom.  Thanks for your time everyone and have a great day!

Wow, you're in auto repair. Look around your shop. It is chocked full of niches that tie very nicely into your brick and mortar world. Rims, tires, additives, shift knobs, steering wheels, car sound systems, classic cars (I know shareasale has an affiliate for this), auto transport companies, plating and coating systems, car storage, car retrofits, etc. There is one affiliate for nothing but center caps! Find an enthusiasm niche. You have knowledge, you already run a like business and you have credibility. You could build both businesses with one stone. You can present yourself as an "expert". Wow. Can I be you?

I recently read a consumer reports article which said something close to "nearly half of the electronics nowadays are bought through online vendors". Now obviously some electronics will sell more than others, but maybe you should see if there is a demand for different types of car electronics - gps systems, stereo systems, etc...?

Click "More Search Tools" in left column, then, Wonder Wheel. It's a fantastic tool.

Ice-Man, I think a niche having to do with cars is a shoe in. Don't give up. Maybe you can promote a part for old cars, something usually hard to find, but you're the one selling it. I am inspired by the Corey Rudl story. Rudl was a brilliant marketer and innovator who loved car racing and I think cars in general. He started an online business in which he sold that fancy little emblem on the front of Ferrari's. He noticed people complaining that that emblem was being stolen quite often, so he saw an opportunity in it, got a resource and sold emblems online. That was just one of his many marketing ventures, but it earned $100K a year. Your answer is probably right in front of you. What might help you zero in is the Google Wonder Wheel. Put a phrase having to do with cars in the Google search bar and Go to the left column, click on New Tools, then click Wonder Wheel. Play with it. You might unearth your niche. Good tool for article ideas too.
