Let me tell you something
Last Update: July 31, 2012
Just after I posted my Daily inspiration - Day 11. I remembered something. About 4 years ago my uncle came to me and told me that I must start playing the piano in church. I was shocked and horrified, I have never had a piano class in my life, I knew nothing.
He would not take no for an answer. When I told him I did not know any songs to play, he just kept telling me that I know lots of songs. I was angry at him for this for a long time, because he even put the ball in motion and had me declared as the main church pianist. It does sound a little far fetched, but I promise, this is a true story.
I read up on some info regarding music notes, and I started teaching myself to play the church songs. I learned them by heart. Took me about a week and a half to learn one song by heart in the beginning, then after about a year it took me a week to learn one song.
To cut a long story short, I am the main church pianist, I play at almost all functions, and I know many songs by heart. I also take about 3 days only to learn a new song by heart. I also play from the sheet music in the meantime, as I started with formal piano lessons this year, and I am the main pianist at the concert we are planning at the end of the year with the music school. I'll be writing my grade 1 music exam end of the year.
All this in only 4 years. I have also already learned 3 of the 20 songs to be played at the concert by heart, and these are songs like Skyscraper, Today Today etc.
This story is an addition to my daily inspirations. This goes to show that does not matter how old you are, or what you want to do, you can do anything you set your mind to and you will achieve success. Because now I am not angry with my uncle any longer, I am grateful that he forced me to do something that I thought I did not want to do at the time. Now I get so much joy from it, I can't think what my life was like without music.

Fantastic - as a non musician with an amazing amount of music in my family, including an ex Drum Major in the Coldstream Guards and a Son who started to learn classical music at age 35, and played at a wedding for 2 hours with no music I am in awe of people like yourself who have the desire and committment to be able to do what you do. If I can apply just a small percentage of this approach to my Internet Marketing business I just must be successfull. Here goes!!

Incredible testimony to the power of the human spirit. As a musician, I can attest that what you have accomplished musically is no easy feat. Not only did you have to learn the mechanics of music but also become comfortable performing in front of others and I am sure as you progressed musically there have been others who have looked to you for guidance and help with their own musical endeavors. Thank you for sharing this inspiration.
