Be Like "Mike"
Anyone need a little motivation?
I remember growing up, reading extensively about one of my hero's, none other than....
MICHAEL JORDAN
Some may think this is a lack-luster comparison to the 'make money' world, but it is probably one the best comparisons we could make.
Michael Jordan was a failure. How did he manage to go from getting cut from his high school team, to becoming likely the best player to ever play the game of basketball?
The way he approach FAILURE!
Let's take a look at some of his most famous ideologies:
- I know fear is an obstacle for some people, but it is an illusion to me. Failure always made me try harder next time.
- My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is
a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength.
- If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them;
everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you
run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb
it, go through it, or work around it.
- If you accept the expectations of others, especially negative ones, then you will never change the outcome.
- I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will
come. I don't do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I
can expect half-hearted results.
- I never thought a role model should be negative.
- I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300
games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and
missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that
is why I succeed.
- There is no "i" in team but there is in win.
- I've never been afraid to fail.
- You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.
I know we say it again and again, but failure is something that happens to all of us. It is to be expected. It is part of the day to day. Think of anything you can do successful now...
You failed to achieve that success. You successful walk every day, you successfully play a sport, you successful drive a car, you successful perform your day job!
But, to reach that success, you had to fail. I hope some of you can take something from this, at the very least, revisit this blog post if you ever do fail. It will definitely put things into perspective.
I am going to leave everyone with a video that reinforces failure = success.
