After a 20 year career as a telecom engineer I was laid off during the .com bust in 2001. Not wanting to join thousands of other people looking for work in Silicon Valley, I counted up my marbles and decided I could live comfortably if I could make a 10% return on my assets. Still working on that but I learned a lot about real estate and oil well investing, using QuickBooks, setting up business entities and tax optimization.

I also took time to ride my motorcycle across the country twice and remember saying to people along the way that I was out having fun while I still could. Glad I did, it was easier to have fun while in a younger body than I have now. A couple of the trips are documented on a website a friend did for me several years ago listed under My Sites.

I decided to get serious about finding other ways to earn money a few months ago and wanted to be able to work from home with a flexible schedule. One opportunity I found interesting was known as "freebie trading", where you sign up to affiliate networks that will pay you to refer people to complete offers for various products. There's a rather large community built around paying others to complete offers on these sites for you, in essence giving them 1/2 what you get paid for referring them. My introduction to it was from a google adsense link on a page that was explaining how to earn money on rent-a-coder and elance called "Project Payday", which is listed in My Sites with my referral link ;-)

There are people making a modest living at doing it but I decided it would take way too many hours/$$ to be worth doing for me after spending a fair amount of time at it. There are several forums for "freebie trading" and the Project Payday site points you to them but advises starting at The Free Lunch Room, also listed in My Sites. While there I hooked up with a guy who is taking it to the next level by building his own web presence and that's where I learned about Wealthy Affiliates. I doubt I'd have found this site on my own, much less signed up for it if not for the trusted referral I got.

My name is Dennis, known in some circles as Three Wheel Dennis...

You can take a lot of stuff on that 3-wheel bike of yours. You must have had a good time. For your blog you might want to just use an html editor and then paste into your blog. I find that is an easy way to add links. John

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. I'm just getting my feet wet here, figure the best way to grasp what's going on is to follow the 8 week program. If you've got any better suggestions, let me know!
