Good people...they are still around!

Last Update: August 08, 2011

Besides all of you folks here at WA, I was giving up on good people out there.   I know that for every bad experience we have in life (people related), we typically have a good one but sometimes we take the good experiences for granted...or maybe the negative people out there are just more memorable.

Either way, I have a story for everyone.  I just got back from a great vacation to SoCal...Southern Califonria for those that are not up to speed with the lingo.

I also got married (yes, I am married man!) and had my 30th birthday (and yes, I am an old dog now) ...so it has been a crazy summer so far!!

Besides my luggage not arriving on the first night and getting rear ended in a car accident (we are OK), we did have a wonderful time enjoying the weather in Sunny California.  You can't let small bumps in the road (pun intended) get in the way of the fun that life has waiting for you! :)

Anyways, on the flight home my wife left here wallet in the San Diego airport.  We considered it gone after we called the airport and we were unable to track it down or find it through "lost and hardly ever found".

It is now two weeks later!   Today I went down to the mailbox and guess what was waiting there.

A package from Washington State.  It said wallet right on it...so I knew exactly what it was.

After opening, we almost expected the any money to be missing and there to be ID, credit cards, etc gone.  EVERYTHING WAS THERE.

The person even paid $12 in priority shipping to have it sent up to Canada!

MAN, THERE ARE SOME FREAKIN' AWESOME PEOPLE LEFT IN THIS WORLD!

They did leave their email and return address, so we are going to compensate them and do something special for their act of kindness, but I wanted to share this story with everyone because there is some underlying motivation for me here.

Although this is something that I would do anyways, it is my plan to pay this forward in any way I can.  I also want to reach out the audience here and have you consider this.

What would you do if you found a wallet?  What if you saw someone that need your help on the side of the road?  What a random stranger could use your help?  What if a homeless person could use some food?

If we all paid forward acts of kindness like this we would live in a much better world.  People would be happier and much more trustworthy as a society.  The world would be a better place.

I know I will be continuing to pay this forward (and have in the past), but I encourage you to do the same.  Not for me, for you.  There is no better feeling! :)

Just thought I had to share this with ya!

Take care,

Kyle

@ Marcus, UK is going a little crazy right now. I think there probably are normal people getting caught up in the hype, like that what happened in Vancouver. People that typically would not do stuff like that get sucked into the riot mentality. Hopefully it sorts itself out and I think that you will see people shine through sooner or later in this situation. :)

Kyle, Congrats on everything. I have seen some significant changes in my lifetime when it comes to 'paying it forward'. It sometimes feels as though, somewhere along the way the words "How can I help" changed to "What's in it for me?"
When I hear a story like yours, it makes me feel good about people. There are still good Samaritans in this world after all.

Great story! Thank you for sharing it Kyle. Acts of kindness have far reaching effects. Just reading your story put my emotions in a better place because I felt love for and pride in my fellow man. I also felt connected to you and to the perp of the honest deed in the best way possible. Wish the news media would report good events at least as often as the bad stuff that brings you down. I like to do kind things for my fellow man too, whenever possible. I believe when you help someone else, when they are in need, or just for no particular reason, you're helping yourself.

Kyle, that is an AWESOME story! Waking up in the UK today is pretty grim given all the needless violence that has erupted, and your story restores my faith in the human race. I almost feel like rewarding the person who found Janna's wallet myself!! Glad to hear everything worked out in the end...amazing story :)
