The Newbie Zone -- How Do I Send A Private Message?

Last Update: February 25, 2010

You can send a private message to another member through the forum's private messaging system.

Here are a few different ways to do it.

If you're reading a member's forum post and want to send them a private message, here's how you do it:

  1. Look to the right of the member's forum post and you'll see there username.
  2. Click the "PM" button a few lines below their username.
  3. Fill out the "Compose Message" form just like you would an email and click "Submit" to send them the message.

Your message will stay in your Outbox until the other member actually logs in and gets your message.  If it stays there a while, it's not stuck ... the other member just hasn't logged in and received your message yet.

If you're on the forums and you know the other member's username, here's how you do it:

  1. Click on the "Members" link a couple of lines below the Search box at the top right of the forums page.
  2. Click on the "Find A Member" link below Members.
  3. If you know their full username, just type it in the "Username" box and click the "Search" button.
  4. If you only know a part of their username, type *username* into the "Username" box and click the "Search" button.
  5. Scroll down and click on their username in the search list.
  6. Click the "PM: Send Private Message" link.
  7. Fill out the "Compose Message" form just like you would an email and click "Submit" to send them the message.

If you're on the main WA site, here's how you do it:

  1. Go to the member's WA Spaces profile page.
  2. Click "Contact This User" in the sidebar on the right side of the page.
  3. Fill out the "Compose Message" form just like you would an email and click "Submit" to send them the message.
