Bolster Success With Offline Marketing -- 4 How To's

Last Update: January 06, 2011

Welcome Fellow WA Buddies!

Today, I'm going to tell you specifically how I drum up Internet business.  I use 4 approaches:  advertise by word-of-mouth offline, attract new people offline to the online realm, work with WA Buddies, advertise to fellow co-workers looking for alternate solutions (plug for Internet marketing).

If you read this entire post, I give you a profitable bonus hint so please keep reading!

Advertise By Word-Of-Mouth Offline

Do you work another job during the daytime or evening?  If so, one of the top recommendations fellow MBA's use is that they network while they're at work.  Not a new concept, but the way in which you do it matters most.

Here's the interesting part.  I told you that I work another job at a department store to keep the money flowing into my business.  That's important.  In executive circles, MBA's know that by staying out in the community, they're networking and they're expanding their individual reach.

Attract New People Offline to the Online Realm

In any day or evening job, corporate policy prevents you from working the corporate client list for your own business profits.

BUT.., there's nothing that says you can't build solid relationships. Often, the best relationships are built when we help someone out of a tight spot.  It's usually something related to a family crisis or some minor medical emergency where you're not getting entangled in their personal issues.  You're just there in case they need a lending hand.

Build relationships wherever you go, but take time to nurture those relationships and try not to be in any rush.

Whether I'm working with a consumer offline or a fellow employee at the other job, here's what I do.

*  Spend a little bit of time each day building rapport

*  Guide other only if they're receptive

*  Talk to college students who don't know about the online world

Keep talking a little bit here and there.  Try not to hit people over the head with your Internet marketing, but hint at some of the things you're doing at home that others can't see.

* Tell co-workers, "Did you know that there's an entire invisible network of people working together online"?  And leave it at that.

* The next week you see your co-workers, lead with a smile (when you make a sale online) and tell someone, "I just made a sale online working from the comfort of my living room couch".  And leave it at that.

* If you're visiting with clients, tell them you're working another job in addition to this job you're at now.  Tell them..."Yup...the work I do here with you is paying for the growth of my small business"!  Watch people light up.  It kinda makes them seem more important to you than they'd ever imagine -- basically because they are.

What you're doing is you're marketing yourself in person, using snip-it's of hints.  When you hit the right person, that person will light up with, "No kidding?  You said you're doing what online again"?  You've just identified a person who will most likely want to know what you're doing.  This is how I identify Internet marketing associates I guide and grow into team members.  I meet associates for tea, and we talk about the steps needed to work our next, successful marketing blueprint.

It may feel some days as if you're spinning your wheels, but don't give up hope.  Just keep talking to people because you're the only one who can be a walking billboard!  Oh...and one more thing.  Don't forget to keep your verbal ads mellow but discrete.  You don't want to get into any trouble at work, and as you continue to form new ties, you'll be positioned to help others get what they want.

Pull In WA Buddies To Help You Identify Various Business Resources

Now blend ongoing teamwork with the verbal advertising you use at your day job to tell others about your Internet marketing work from home.  Try not to overdo it.  Take some work days off where you mention nothing about your business.

Ask WA Buddies to Work Their Local Communities

Pull in your local communities into team involvement and day-job networking to see if you can drum up offline business for your online success.  Be persistent.  You will find that your own contact list will grow through offline and online means. Offering food for constructive thought.

BONUS:  Blend Team Work Ideas Found At Local Community Levels & Compare Notes

It took me some time to stumble upon this solution, but I will tell you that the next 10 years involve very profitable trends for Internet marketers helping small businesses transition online!  Use your team to compare notes, but see if you can motivate your team members to do out and conduct some "field research".  It can be disguised but fun.  Remember, the very best marketing is always subtle!  Make it appear as if it's the other person's idea to make a change, not yours, and include your Internet marketing plug indirectly.
