A small triumph - my first article
Last Update: June 13, 2010
Yes! first article written and published on ezinearticles, now waiting to see whether it gets anywhere on google rankings. I'm not sure if I refined my keywords well.
I managed to set up google alerts and have been digging around on google to see whether I am listed. Found myself 9 pages down so not great.
Would like to know whether that ranking will improve over the next few days - or more precisely what would make it improve?

Hi Alan and Maureen
Thanks to both of you for your comments. I did not manage to get above page 9 on google with my top keywords. But interestingly I noticed that the article got to about page 11 via an Ecademy blog and today was higher with Ecademy than wtih Ezinearticles.
Everything does feel like it is taking ages... so much to take in as well and no time to do it all... but am enjoying the journey.

Hi LInda,
Congratulations on getting your first article done so quickly after joining WA. You are much faster than I was in getting started! Don't get too concerned with getting towards 3% keyword density, I have had top 3 positions on google with 1.4% keyword density. Low competition keywords, good quality informative articles with keyword in the title, first paragraph and last paragraph and sprinked throughout the article, and the more articles you write the better and faster you will become at it.
Good luck! Alan

I'm new at this--but yes, keyword density plus quality of information plus understanding of what your target audience is looking for. That is what I have heard from every good source of article-marketing wisdom that I have looked to. Trying to make it work just like you are....good luck!

Hi jatdebeaune
Many thanks for your comment and tips. I did notice when writing my article that my keyword density was not near 3% but like you mention it would have been bursting at the seams and have been clumsy if I put more keywords. Thanks again, Linda

They teach here keyword density of at least 2% for a low competition keyword phrase. I often have trouble doing that because my articles are usually longer than the average. They don't read well stuffed with keywords. So, I have just resolved to put as many articles out as possible, trying for density. The most important part is "quality" information. As per your ranking, it can go either way. Yes, you can tweak your article with keywords and see what happens. I would just keep writing more articles if I were you. Before I knew much about SEO and keywords, I wrote tons of articles for my website. Website ended up with a Google PR of 4 in under a year. So, you see, quality is very important.
