I Disagree.

Last Update: August 09, 2012
From a friend and elder whom I have great respect.

Everything else in the letter was very positive but this last statement.

"I would encourage you to diligently seek employment opportunities in the Temple Terrace area. I’m afraid I don’t have a lot of confidence that your attempts to start up an internet-based business will ever pan out."

It is not out of disrespect I've publicized this, but the common belief itself. This is where I really need the support, to prove that this isn't true. If it is, I have it coming to me.

Employment has never worked well for me and it is kind-hearted family and friends who keep cramming this down my throat.

Never saying that employment isn't expedient, but I'm avoiding it any way I can so I don't lose the freedom I have now to get my act together.

In college, I was a full-time student. My family didn't have money to pay for my education, so I worked. Close to full time a lot of the time. My 2nd year, for instance, I worked 40 hours a week in the afternoon, took classes in the morning. I was making, working full-time $640/monthly. My mother was very proud of me.

At some point, I got tired of it and didn't get a job. I did a sub-contractor arrangement with someone... I had to be in/around a building (so I could show apartments to people interested in renting, or take the electric company guy in the basement so he/she could read the meter). I had to be there 40 hours a week, but the actual work was 1 hour a day. In exchange, I got $935 a month.

My mother was not proud of me. You see, I wasn't working hard. It didn't matter to her that I was making more money and could do all my studying while earning that more money. Or that I wasn't tired all the time and had a few dollars to spare on a movie, for a change. Nope. I wasn't working like a horse at a regular job. I was, therefore, lazy.

If you think you can make it, Daniel, go for it. I do think people have to be realistic... but that doesn't mean you can't go for things that take you a while to figure out... just that you have benchmarks to know you're figuring out... Today you know something you didn't know yesterday. Or implemented something new...

I look at it like building a house. You 1st have to make a whole, pour concrete, etc., etc. You don't build a whole house all at once. So, if you're working on the foundation, or laying floors, or laying the electrical wiring, you are building a house. It's kind of the same with starting a business.

Unfortunately, most people say, how much money have you made? And if you make less than expected, you should quit. Even though you've learned something new or earned more than the previous month.

PS All that happened way back, when money was money; when I was young and foolish and thought, Man, oh man, if I get to making $1,200 a month, I'll be rich. In other words, it was 1985.
Your replies and posts are always thought provoking. I rebuilt the kitchen and bath in my sister's boyfriend's house.

What happened next was really my fault for not engaging in discussion about pay, etc.

I assumed I would get paid for the job ...not so!

First of all, staying at that house, I was a guest, but as soon as business was involved, rent was exacted over the course of my stay there. Then, my hours were estimated. Of course this was based on times I was actually observed working. Then, deduction for food, electricity, etc.

Whole job? $400. I protested of course. My noise got me $700, but this didn't come without retaliation later, which cost me a close relationship with my sister.

I got framed on something pretty serious.

After almost a year, my sister is now in Florida in Palmetto and planning to meet with me, hopefully to resolve the differences and clear up the lies.

Anyway, it comes right back to what you said above, every body thinks work must be done on the hour and not by the value of the work being done. This is why I hate employment with a passion. Unless there's more to a job position than the pay, that is, satisfaction and contentment with the position. You gotta have passion for it ...unless these things are there, no way! I would have to be desperate and no other choice before I would get tangled up in another job position

I hope with what I have to say that I can inspire you not to listen to the negative words of others and to grow yourself and to believe in yourself and succeed. I am in a similar situation whereas I am the only one in the entire country that thinks and believes I can make a living with IM. oh wait, there is only one other person I know that thinks it is possible, but to a point that I have to prove it first.

I live in a country that is really ignorant of the internet, everyone still believes it is all a scam and the entire internet is evil except for Facebook. The general consensus is that the "Nigerians" controls the internet and they just scam you out of your money.... therefor I am the sucker amongst everyone I know and do not know.

Once I send an ad of WA to someone who is connected to radio, and they had a lengthy discussion about me and how I am letting myself being scammed by the internet and how I believe fairy tales. Lucky for me I did not use my real name.

but to come to the point, I believe in this, and I believe it will work, and if I can succeed with all odds and everyone around me being skeptical, then you can do it to. And if you dream it, you can live it.

You have to want to succeed and you definitely will, you just need to want it enough, you need to want it real bad. You will have it. We all believe in you!
That is so bad things like that being broadcast on the radio! Believe me, I have the will to go. If I can't make it go in the next couple weeks, I will have to start looking for a job, but be it for sure, it will not be anything anywhere near full-time. I make $500/month, I can get by and and keep at my work.

I have a mentor in another line of work. To the day his parents died they constantly told him he needed to get a "real job". Didn't matter that he purchased them a fantastic home in Newport Beach, CA. It didn't matter that his business was grossing over $50,000,000 a year. It didn't matter that his AMEX credit limit was unlimited and he paid off the balance, usually over $100,000, each month. He still didn't have a real job. ALWAYS set your OWN standard and live up to your standard. Elders are great to learn from. If we all did what our elders told us to do we would still be riding horses to work each day. Listen to their advice and figure out how to improve on it. I guarantee Kyle and Carson profit more from this website by learning what we say and do and improving on it, than they do by collecting our membership fees. Be you and know one else!!!
Here is a multimillionaire, Steve Pavlina, one of the earliest sources of inspiration I have gotten, wrote an article, "10 Reasons Why You Should Never Get a Job." Search it. It's pretty funny and to the point. This was the first article that hit home for me in this topic. In this article, Pavlina states how there are still people (I think his mother was one) saying he needs to get a real job.

I am one of the fortunate ones who has a job and am also doing IM as a secondary income. Even though it is not a lot, I make consistent money every month with IM. I am able to reinvest in my IM efforts and pay some bills with the money. My situation is a bit different than yours as I have a family that depends on me but if I was single with just the basic day to day responsibilities it wouldn't bother me to mow lawns and do yard work if I had to until my online business would support me. I guess I am a "Forest Gump" at heart and find cutting grass a peaceful occupation! lol

Just keep at what you are trying to accomplish and don't let the nay-sayers and un-believers get you down.
Yes, I like doing the odd jobs and this is what has essentially kept me afloat. No. At this point and after two weeks ago, there's too much at steak and a lot to lose by getting down.

While I have not personally earned income from IM as of yet, I have made money working online for others. I still believe that success with IM is possible, and it seems that the percentage of people who think it doesn't seems to outweigh those that believe it does. I think that is mostly due to the old thinking of go to school, and get a good job who will take care of you well into retirement. My parents are still stuck in that line of thinking even though my husband and I have told them on multiple occasions that the pension has been replaced by the white collar gambling 401k. We are responsible for ourselves, so why shouldn't we take that a step further and work for ourselves?

I have high expectations for my earning potential and I know my freelance earnings are limited to how many hours I have available in any given day, but it is just for the short term until I can get the bills taken care of. Success is possible, it just takes time.

And those that tell you that you won't succeed are only saying so because they don't understand what IM is, nor do they want to. They are just sitting with the blinders on, talking about how the world used to work.
It is a social convention to chug-a-lug like the 95% Yes, it is a very strong force due to the sheer masses.

No. They are not aware of the other economy.

In this case, I really think my abilities are questioned. That kind of thing can be nerve-wracking when there is a deadline ahead. Right now I'm endeavouring to push that deadline ahead and buy time.

Then there's the "Everybody has to do it, what makes YOU so special?"

and

"Wealth is NOT for everyone."

I have most of next month's liabilities accounted. I'm planning my winter vegetables and it is almost time to turn the soil and fertilize.

I too have found myself to be questioned. I DO NOT want to go back to the stress of IT. Every time my mom has asked me if I have found any new jobs I tell her no but I am working on other things I have been interested in pursuing.

That always get the reply of what else can you possibly do that will make the same amount of money? Proof positive that there is no understanding of the power of the internet and its UNLIMITED earnings potential.

I think all you can really do is kindly take the advice, but don't take it to heart. You know that success is possible, and its just a wasted effort to make those that don't understand, actually understand.
Yes, when you tell those folks that I haven't "wisely" used my time to be out galla-vanting the streets of my town trying to get hooked, then you tell them I'm working on my projects, they foam at the mouth.

They won't, and I say won't buy the bit about diversity of internet marketing rather than the rigid face-time in someone else's future.

They have the switch, and they can pull it at any time, we know of the At Will Policy. without warning nor reason. What kind of security is that? Mind you they often argue that security lies in a good 'ol job.

The valid point they always go on is that the Internet is a house of smoke and mirrors.

True.

But to the initiated, no.
