Hello virtual world! My next birthday in the "physical world" is coming up this month and I thought it fitting that my "birthday" in the virtual world be this month as well. Happy Birthday to Me!

Three years ago I barely knew how to check my email and now I'm attempting to make an income from the internet, so I'm almost as new to the internet as I am internet marketing. No worries. Just six years ago if a surgeon told me to prepare a patient for debridement of the lateral process of his right tibial plateau, I would have lapsed into a coma. But today (literally), I assisted him easily. Of course, when I entered the medical field, I first had to learn the language. And although I haven't yet located a useful IM dictionary (could someone please tell me where the heck they put it?!), I still read (and partially understood) the information in the Learning Center and Forum like a good little student.

I've been reading and surfing since January 08, trying to educate myself about internet marketing and the internet in general because I believe it's not only one of the best sources of income for the future, it is something my increasingly tired old bones will appreciate (just as soon as I figure out how it works!). I am also hoping WA will be a successful classroom experience, as it seems there is a sore lack of educational opportunities on the subject and way too many barracudas in these invisible internet waters. I'm a young little fishy in this world, but old enough to be wary of scams and gratefully have not yet fallen prey as so many others seem to have. (Or, at least I HOPE I haven't ;) ). WA is my first serious investment.

At the moment, I make my living as a traveling nurse. The pay is pretty good, averaging around $200/day, but with no paid vacations, no sick pay, and no pay between contracts. The hours are so-so. I work in surgery, so usually 8/day with lots (as in 16 of 31 days this month) of "call" (I HATE living with a pager). The work is physically and mentally demanding and the stress is outrageous. Needless to say, I love my job or I wouldn't be here. Honestly, there are aspects of nursing that are very rewarding. However, I don't see myself crawling under operating room tables to adjust equipment and running around trying not to slip on some unmentionable fluid on the floor as the best way to make a living at this stage of my life. But then, many things at this stage of my life are not as I envisioned when young and naive.

In the last decade, I graduated my home schooled (before it became popular) children, became a grandmother, entered college for the first time, started my first career, celebrated half a century of life, divorced (after 32 years), remarried, and traveled solo from Georgia to California in a 24-foot RV (my first) to enjoy my first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. After all that, you would think this internet thing should be a piece of cake, right? LOL!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to moving forward with my newfound future career. I appreciate all the help I can get and hope to someday soon be in a position to help others!

ps... just had to add some pics!

Cool!! I'm glad to know we share the same drive to move from medicine to something less stressful. Keep me posted on the 30-day challenge, it looks interesting! Hope you don't mind being my buddy!

Hi Gigi, Happy Birthday!! You and I share that. My birthday is this month also, and I think we are probably very close in age as well. I worked for an ophthalmologist for 7 years before starting to work with my husband. Also, like you I just started learning about the computer and the internet. I started 4 years ago.

I am totally excited about WA. If you are interested Deb Williams has some really great info videos that she did just for WA students. They are very helpful and just yesterday with the help of one, I was able to purchase a domain name and point it to WA Webhosting all by myself. Something I didn't think I would be able to do. Oh by the way these videos are free for WA students. The website address is http://www.videosforwa.com

Oh, my gosh! Reading your bio sounds so much like me! I'm the Elle Mae type too! My dream is to have a few acres with veges, flowers, goats, chickens and such! I've been through Pennsylvania recently. It's beautiful... looks a lot like my home. Same mountains, just further south! I live near Rome, Georgia. ~ Thank you so much for your information. I'll check those videos out this weekend (I actually get to go home! YEAH!). I'm usually on call. Got 3 weekends off in a row... can't believe it! I'm so excited about being here at WA. There are SO many helpful people. I just KNOW we are all going to be successful! ~ I'm adding you as my buddy and will give you gold for your kindness and generosity as soon as I get more to give! They aren't putting back in my account fast enough!

Haven't gotten that far yet. I've just finished my first week and began the second week today. Since I'm completely new to this, I'm having a little trouble deciphering the language enough to understand what it is I'm to do. I just read the lesson on Article Marketing and understood about 85% of it. Going to jump right in and get my feet wet though, better to do it wrong and learn from my mistake than sit on my hands! Wish me luck! -- Have you had any luck with article writing?

Hi Gigi~ welcome to WA! I know learning IM is like learning a foreign language but eventually it will all start to make sense! I'm sorry to hear about your divorce after 32 years but happy to hear you have found love again. I divorced after 13 years of marriage and my parents divorced after 22 years. It's a tough thing to go through! I wish you much success with your IM. Keep me posted on your success and I will help in any way I can.

Thank you so much! Yes, it was difficult, but at least not angry. We tried to reconnect for 5 yrs after the kids flew the coop and discovered that although we cared about each other, we had nothing other than the kids in common and wanted a very different path for the remainder of our lives. We're still on friendly terms and both remarried now. Life goes on! And I have been blessed anyway! ~ I see that you joined almost a year ago. Have you been able to quit your job yet? I've given myself yrs as a target. I really have no idea how long it will take. Any thoughts?
