My Experience So Far...

Last Update: July 26, 2012
Has been okay although I'm still pretty skeptical about whether this particular set of tools is for me. I'm a little disappointed that I can't access the forum even though it's not a premium service. I don't expect this to be easy. Nothing in life worth having is easy so I expect to put in the necessary work in order to make this successful. Starting a business and implementing new skills is overwhelming but I'll keep learning and exploring my options. Hopefully, I'll have more to say tomorrow.

Hey Sonya.

I'm a relative noob, I signed up a couple of months back. There wasn't a free 10 day trial at that time, so I had to bite-the-bullet and keep my fingers-x'd that I too hadn't paid to join yet another get-rich-quick-scam.

I don't for a second imagine that WA is for everyone. I just knew within a few days that it suited me, so when my first month expired, I signed up for a year. I'm still constantly impressed by the wealth of information, training and support that I get here and for lot less than I pay Starbucks for my daily latte, so I find WA great value for money.

In regard to forum access, I'm glad that I didn't spend too much time there when I first signed up, as Beverley (@BIS) and Bob (@klrider) have said "information overload"! I'm also guessing the limitation is a security issue from WA's point of view. It would be easy for spammers to join the trial and start filling the forum up with junk posts or alternatively site-sucking (downloading everything) and posting it elsewhere on the www. There's the occasional spammer now on the board, but they're obvious to spot in the public areas like global activity and blogs and they get kicked out pretty fast.

If you're working your way through Your First 10 Days and taking action, you'll know at the end of the trial whether WA is for you. If not, try something else. You can always come back to WA.

Best.

Rich.

Thanks, Rich, that was great advice. After thinking about it, the 10 day trial is a plus as it allows me to get my feet wet and see if this is for me. Despite not having access to the forum, I've found a lot of useful information here. Since I'm still pretty new at this I guess it's better to take it slow before making a decision on whether WA is a good fit for me. Thanks again for your help.

Most welcome. I just read your comment to Carson, I know that people have used Squidoo for free in the past, as it accepts affiliate links. How successful that is now, I've no idea. If you jump into the chatroom, I'm sure Dean (@Apina) or someone will be able to give you a definitive answer. Just in case you don't already know, if you're a WA subscriber, you can host unlimited websites here for no additional charge. Good luck, Sonya! Best. Rich.

Thanks, Carson. It says a lot about the character of a company when the co-founder of it takes time to encourage a noob like me who hasn't spent a dime investing in that company yet.

I have been burned a couple of times with a couple of scams out there and I know that's where the reluctance is coming from. Plus, it seems too good to be true. I'll just keep plugging away and continue to go through the first 10 days training, ask questions, learn as much as I can, and take this in a little at a time so I won't get overwhelmed.

I do have a question: Starting out, is it better to have a blog through a company like Wordpress? I would really like to keep my overhead down as much as possible, in the beginning at least, and I'm very impressed with the look and feel of their free blog templates. But I'm not sure if I can place ads on them. Or is it better to invest in a credible hosting company?

Hi - Welcome to WA

Sorry you're feeling sceptical. Not being able to access the forums may feel like a huge disadvantage but at this stage I don't believe it is. The more information you have available at the beginning the more confusing it can be and I really wouldn't let it worry you. Focus on what you have rather than what you don't.

You have your blog space here - where you can post as often as you like. You can go into the Live Chat and ask questions. There are a lot of training materials available to you.

Focus on working through the 10 day trial programme. In that time you should be able to set up your first website (if you wnt to) and see if online marketing is something that you want to develop further.

The very best of luck

Beverley

Hi, Beverly. I know, you're right. I'll focus on what I have and not on what I don't have. Thanks so much for your encouragement. I appreciate that :-)

Starting a new venture isn't easy per se, but it can be fun learning new things and getting your own piece of the internet. Remember, as you said, you are starting a business. Look at it like that. Every business takes hard work and dedication. I am sure KLRRider can agree in the beginning you have some form of doubt but its perseverance and determination to succeed that will keep you going along.
