Google Gets Heavy with The Content Farms

Last Update: May 30, 2011

I am reproducing an article that I found this morning that is very relevant to the comments I made in my last blog post here and that will help a lot of people here and elsewhere in Internet marketing understand what it is exactly that Google and others are trying to stop. The others include StreetArticles and WA!

InformIT: Google Gets Tough on Black-Hat SEO What of Content Aggregation?:

Maybe just maybe if we all understand this and teach the newbies correctly we can help them avoid being hit by the slaps?

The problem is not those using aggregation as news feeds, but rather those using them to build entire sites devoid of anything but unchecked unrelated junk posts. The real problem is that the abuse by a few well intentioned (but ill informed) no doubt individuals and some out and out cheats will stop the legitimate use of these tools as they have or are trying to do with content spinning.

If you must use these tools do so with care and only once you are sure you know how to use them intelligently. Better yet follow the 30 day Clubs philosophy and do everything naturally. What do the rest of you think about this? Do you use aggregators and if so for what?

Should be an interesting discussion!

Thanks for this link Steve. I feel aggravation with aggregation. There's a very clever marketer whom you probably know who is a genius at black hat and gray hat, and my inbox is flooded with promotions from him. Not only do I think it's wrong, but I don't have the savvy to get away with it if I wanted to. I think the more direct a marketer is, the better. Just write good articles and put them out there. It's very convenient that's what Google wants anyway.
