More about me

Last Update: September 10, 2010

Hi Guys,

I am just needing to get things off my chest. Sorry! I started this about a year ago and the reason is that at age 58 and effectively unemployed since  moving to Canada in December 1999.

I met and married my soul mate after meeting her in the desert just outside Riyadh Saudi Arabia. At the time I was going through a divorce and the situation was very complex. I will not try to explain here!

Anyway we got married in England on 10th October 1999 and are approaching our 11th anniversary. Shauna is the Dressage Rider and being from Nova Scotia was quickly homesick especially as she became pregnant just after we got married.

Shauna miscarried in all 3 times and  of course this broke my heart, but the worst of it was that we searched for and finally built our dream a place for her horse and to start our own riding school and stables. This was the start of our major problems!

The contractor we chose was not honest and we did not receive the best of advice from our lawyers and bankers. The municipality was negligent in their inspections and to keep it short we ended up with a 144 by 70 ft indoor arena and a 1862 sq ft stable that are far short of the minimum code requirements and out by around $400,000 our loss is less than that but not really possible to estimate exactly say $200,000 this is because no appraiser, builder  or realtor can estimate the open market value as there are no statistics for non code buildings!

We have been caught up in legal proceedings since 2003 and they are slowly but surely bankrupting us. I know I can make this work if only I can stay clear headed. I have managed several Amazon sales and also sold 4 guitar courses on Clickbank and  2 Jane Savoie Dressage Training video series since starting a year ago. The problem is staying focused under the stress and really I need a good mentor to direct me, but do not have the money to pay! Same problem as many.

If there are any kind souls who would be prepared to look over my stuff and give direction where they can it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for  just being there and reading just getting this off my chest helps to relieve some of the pressure.

The latest issue was losing my web service to a lightning strike 2 weeks ago and it is not scheduled for repair until mid next week. I have had to get a mobile stick at ridiculous cost from Bell to continue! Ouch!

Steve.

Gosh, Steve. Life has really been testing you and your wife for a lonnnnnnnng stretch of time.
I'm not far enough along in IM yet to offer good guidance to you, but I sure know at least two ways in WA to find it. One, of course, is the Forum. People with a variety of skills do jump in to help. I;ve noticed that they appreciate it if you make it easy and put your URL in the same post as the request for critique. The second way is applying to Jay for a hotseat during one of his amazing free webinars for WA. He is doing one next Tuesday. It is too late to apply for a hotseat in this current webinar, but I am sure a lot can be learned by listening to it. And then you can apply for the next one ! Oh, and Jennifer PPG says she is a true helpaholic: you might do any followup questions with her.
btw, glad to know you are marketing Jane Savoie's videos. I spent several days with her in a seminar a few years back just as she was figuring out how to market the extraordinary set of videos she already had. She is one cool human being, so talented and giving and quite humble about herself.
Looking forward to things looking up for you...soon !

Hi Steve, so sorry to hear you're going thru a rough time.

Your situation regarding starting WA a year ago and not being able to focus due to stress is one I can completely emphasise with.

Ian got made redundant in 2006, and I hadn't worked since 1998. When things are rock bottom, there is only one way to go. But i know it is hard to concentrate when you're stressed and your mind is a mess, like mine was - coming out of it now though. I recently managed to get a part-time job billing charity bags and recycling clothes - it pays the bills, but not much left over for anything else.

Feel free to chat if you want to.

Best wishes, Mel (Nuttymeg)
