Lining up my sights...

Last Update: March 21, 2010

I finished Lesson 2,but for all intensive purposes it was actually my first Lesson in the action plan, on Friday night. Waiting to go to the next lesson is like watching a 5 mile long train cross in front of you, it is taking forever and I just want it to be done so I can drive over the tracks, lifting me feet of course ;-), and get to where I am going! But I am practicing patience knowing that there are going to be a few more stops along my way, a lot of bumpy roads, U turns, dead ends until I can get to where I want to be so I am taking this time research like I've never researched before!

I really can't wait to get started, I am excited, anxious, scared, you name it, and I am sure everyone has either been there or maybe you still are all of those things! In waiting for my metaphorical train to finish crossing, giving me the ok to move on to the next lesson, I have really taken this time to do a lot of research and read whatever I can get my "internet hands" on!  Of course with anything you read these days I do get conflicting stories, some say I should just start now get something up and see how it does, others say to be patient, research, get comfortable and then start, so that is the route I am taking the "Lining up my sites, before I pull the trigger" approach. Do I think with everything I have read that I could get an article or a site up and start making some money? Sure! Would it last very long, probably not, but who knows, I just want to be as prepared and a comfortable as I can be before I take that first small step. Don't get me wrong I know there are going to be failures along the way, I know I am not going to pull the trigger and hit the bulls eye every time, there is going to be a stray that misses the target by so much it goes into orbit. I just want to know how to back track and learn what I did wrong and know how to fix those mistakes so they don't happen again.

I just finished reading about Bum Marketing and let me tell you after reading a lot of articles about that, I could have just started slinging articles left and right up on the web, but I didn't, not yet.

I am curious as to what some of your approaches, were or are, when you were first starting out? Did you wait a bit before really getting the ball rolling? Or did you just jump right into the fire? What were your results, what did you learn?

Hey Paul, Nice to meet you :)

I guess I've done loads and loads of learning with different tools and have even taken action ... but the action has been more about practising what I was learning.

I think I'm at the stage now where I think I can get comfortable taking action within a bigger game plan, rather than just all those darned frusrating little steps that you just have to get through to get comfortable if you see what I mean.

I think it'll still be slow going to start but I enjoy every step forward and challenge I overcome so I'm definitely in it for the long haul :)

Hope you are too coz I think it's a great business if you love it. And I think doing what feels right to you, along with hearing from others is a great way forward!

Even though I came to WA with previous experience, it was different experience. Kyle talks about connecting the dots, and this is a good place to do just that. It took me time to absorb enough information in order to act. I don't like shooting in the dark. Read the entire 8 Week Course about 10 times, then started here with Potpiegirl's One Week Marketing and Squidoo lenses. You have to get over the fear of starting. Following rules, such as dictates of ezinearticles is also a learning curve. You get used to it. Put my focus/emphasis on keywords. Then simplified as much as I could. I save the Forum and tutorials for after hours. Comment on blogs while eating lunch. I think it's good to review the lessons from time to time because you'll pick up something new that you missed. Forum is a wealth of information. Well, that's what I did anyway. All the best.

Hmm I did a little bit of both.. I acted, and I learned.. I heard someone say one time that if they had an hour to cut down a tree, they would spend 45 min sharpening their axe... I would stick to that.. haha
