Collecting Email address in adwords ads?

Has anyone seen this before:


I haven't advertised on adwords in a long time. When did they start allowing you to collect email addresses in the ad?

Is this a new thing or relatively old?

I don't normally use google search while signed into my account, this time I happened to be. Google actually automatically populated the field with my email address.

It was rolled out in Feb (I believe) as part of their Communications Ad Extensions. You can get more information by searching for "ad extensions" here:

http://support.google.com/adwords/

It could be quite valuable if you are attempting to build leads and will likely be something that we test in the near future.

Cool, thanks for the info Kyle. I find it kind of funny how they didn't like ads to be directed to squeeze pages, but now they are making it to where you can collect leads right in the ads themselves.

Yeah, seems like a bit of an oxymoron...but that is Google for you. The next thing that are going to do is allow blatant affiliate offers and direct linking to order pages (well, maybe not)!
