Who Should I Target With My WA Campaigns

Last Update: May 31, 2012
Today I learned how to determine WHO I should target with my WA campaigns using the following technique:

Step One

One of the most important things to think about when choosing a target audience is to make sure you can relate to them. Since I am a working mom, I should NOT try to target young college students or stay at home dads. Trying to convince them that I know why they would do well starting their own Online Business. I made a list of my attributes: working mom, mother of a college student, mother of a teenage girl, homeowner, etc. I can use this list to narrow down my niche and target audience. For example, I could target moms who are assuming a large amount of debt to put their child through college.

Step Two

Another important step is to group your potential "customers" into the following categories:
  • Top Priority- these people are eager to start an Online Business, have probably been looking around for a good solution, and are ready to make a purchase
  • High Priority - these people have decided that they want to start an online business, are close to making a purchase but need a little more convincing that they are making a good choice
  • Medium Priority - these people are still not 100% convinced that starting an online business is the right choice or that now is the right time, would take a lot of convincing and probably take a lot of time to make a purchase
  • Low Priority - these people are not really sure they are looking to start an Online Business. They are really only in the beginning stages of looking for a solution and may even turn to a more "conventional" type of business or forget the idea altogether.
Now that you have identified that you want to target the "Top Priority" and "High Priority" customers, you need to compile a list of WHO these people are by taking the list made in Step One and determining where they would fall on the Priority list.

I could go on and on with this, but I think you get the idea. Can't wait to see what I learn tomorrow!

Have a great night!
