Time flies and email lists

Last Update: June 24, 2012
One thing in which all the top dog internet marketers agree, is that having a mailing list is critical to long term success with your authority niche site.

Being able to land your information, reviews and yes sales pitches into someones email inbox is extremely powerful.

So of course, being a good little internet marketer I created my own mailing list over at ApinaPress, with the aim of providing help and advice on HTML, CSS and Wordpress for newbies and experienced folk alike.

I wrote like a demon, created a ton of emails, formatted them and listed them on Aweber (since Mailchimp suck lol) and sent them out for people to read, and hopefully learn from.

I got an email from myself today (yup I am on my own mailing list and would recommend you to do the same, helps spot bugs, errors and F ups) and checked aweber to see how things were going.

It was my last email! EEEEEKKKK! All those emails I wrote have ended now for my first sign ups. Before I checked this, I was thinking, no worries got plenty of time to go before I need to write some more.

Ahhh yes but time flies.

So the moral is, KEEP WRITING! If you send out 1 email a week, write 2 a week, send 3 emails, write six. Always try and be in front of yourself.

And if you do have a sudden idea that you need to send out, services like Aweber do allow you to send one off emails.

So now I am off to try and write some more before people wonder what happened!

Actually just had one of the lists I'm on write to say that they noticed that I am not opening their mails, and gave the option to unsubscribe! apparently cut 44'000 + off his list! But it is a change from people relentlessly sending emails adnauseum! Thanks for the heads up Dean

Thats nice of him, wish a few of mine would do that, I must unsubscribe from some of them, especially the ones I just delete lol. Wonder how many he had left on his list...

I think this is an "aha" moment for many of us. I always sign-up to any email list that we create as well as this will allow you to gauge your own emails. Sometimes the 2nd time around you wonder what the hell you were writing about and have to make some edits, but that is OK. We all improve as writers and we all improve at our ability to connect with our audiences.

Keep your follow up emails growing as it is possible to offer value and keep your audience engaged for several months (and even years) if you build out this sequence.

One thing I have been wondering about is when or if to cut off the emails and/or start a new line of conversation in them

You could partition your list at some point with an offer to get on a new list, but the thing that you will find is that some people will open some emails and others will open others, so this is not always the best idea. I would just keep them running...and if you have a specific offer in which you want to segregate your list, get them over to a new list with a free offer
