Pitch Correction Software

Last Update: April 17, 2012

Kyle gave me a link to this software http://www.antarestech.com/products/auto-tune-evo.shtml

Which does look really good as I see it's the Industry Standard, however the cost is scary which today made me think about some free software that I have used in the past, Audacity.

If you have never manipulated voice or music before and don't want to fork out the money then I can honestly say Audacity is realatively easy to use and it's Free.

They have just released Version 2 which has been in a Beta version for some time but now it's the full version.

You can take a look here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I have used Audacity for years! It is a GREAT program and for free...it can't be beat by a long shot! Right now, Audacity is capturing one of many calls which I've been capturing for over a month now. Most of my music collection came about with Audacity. Fully endorsed by me! I have also fixed thousands of old recordings I have made on cassette tapes since the early 1970s...recordings that were inferior for decades and on tapes that are currently in a sad state of deterioration. I have rescued many many of these old recordings with the application!

I didn't know you could do that with Audacity, I still have some old cassette tapes from years ago. With Audacity I could redo them and burn to disc then or convert to Mp3. That would be good to do.
Oh yes! You can get rid of popping from records, hiss from tapes, and other undesirable noises from whatever you don't want in the recordings. You can increase the intensity (if the original sound is too loud and distorted, the crests and valleys in the waveform had been clipped, there isn't much you can do with it.) To be able to work with analog stuff like this in Audacity you need to have your computer's audio settings according to instructions, otherwise it won't work. When you see waveforms and the meters responding to your speaker's sounds, you've got it right. You can then export the recording to one of several formats if you have the codices for them. I use mp3.

Yeah, definitely do not pay the money for enterprise software, get something that is affordable or free that does the job.

Audacity does work really well, I'd actually forgotten about it and currently don't have it installed after doing a fresh/clean windows installation.

I do however have a software called Sound Forge Audio Studio installed as it came with Vegas Movie Studio when I purchased that software.

I haven't used Sound Forge. This came about on Chat because I wanted to change my accent on video, a thick Devonian accent doesn't sound too good.

Audacity is fab, I love it. There's lots of tutorials on YouTube too for Audacity that will teach how to use some of the more advanced features.

I only know the basics but learning the more advanced stuff will be really handy.
