More reasons why working for yourself is the way to go!

Last Update: May 22, 2010

Hey guys! I've been BUSY! I recently took on a couple of consulting jobs. One was just a small project and the other is more long-term.

While I'm excited to have these things to do, and to make some extra money, it made me rediscover why working for yourself is definitely the way to go! (Like we didn't all know that one. LOL)

#1. The short-term job I did ended up as a flop. I did 4 hours of work and got paid for 2. Enough said there.

#2. The longer-term job is pretty good. I'm doing email marketing for a company that's out of state, which means I get to do it from home. YAY! I just started 2 weeks ago, and we decided on 3 emails a week to start, and that's what I'm getting paid for.

All of a sudden, they want me to create 9 emails this week! Grr...

The other thing is, I feel like I have to constantly be available by phone or be near my computer to answer questions and requests.  That is not exactly the freedom I'm looking for! Especially when the pay is VERY part-time! (Which I don't mind as long as the work is very part time too!)

Anyway, as I mentioned, I'm grateful that I have this job and to have the extra income. But, it would be nice to boost my affiliate marketing income enough to cut out all of these other people!

I like my freedom. :)

Cheers to this post Christina. I think that the freedom to work for ourselves is the ultimate goal for us all. Good luck getting there!

Exactly the same happens to me sometimes. I still like to do websites and SEO work for others at times but there have been more than a few that turn into a nightmare and they expect you to be sat there waiting for them at all hours or change the main ideas and worse! The whole point of this biz is to be able to do things on your terms... but sometimes the extra money is too tempting or it just seems like a good idea at the time! Totally feeling where you are coming from on this one! Stick with it and one day you won't have to do anything you don't REALLY want to :)

I know, Christina. You have to weigh the value of what they pay you against the value of focusing on your online business. If you can afford to do it, may be more profitable in the long run to just focus on IM. It's a balancing act.
