What directories do you use?

Last Update: May 20, 2012
Been backlinking a few sites and was curious if anyone has a list of directories that they post their sites on? I don't plan on using directories as part of my main backlinking strategy, but I'd like to use them now and again for diversity. I'd like a list of 10 or so if possible.

Thanks,

Jesse

I was able to find what I needed as it was literally right under my nose (in my filing cabinet). Thanks for all the input.

You're welcome. I'm honestly not very knowledgeable with this matter since I spend most of my time just putting up websites, submitting articles, publishing videos, & stuff like that. I'll go ahead & give a message Richard gave me about back-links & creating traffic to your blog that he told me when I started out:
---

Hi,

Social bookmarking is a very powerful method of getting your sites indexed and supplying quailty links. However, you need to be careful that you are not overdoing it on the bookmarks otherwise you could end up in the sandbox. Especially with digg.com.

Video marketing is very powerful method of driving traffic but I have to admit I have never heard of GFX video writer, and I have seen people talk of audio articles but I have never seen one, especially on the first page of google.
One thing to remember is that audio cannot contain clickable links and therefore you will not get the backlink 'juice' from your work.

A method that has worked for me for ages and continues to work is this:-

Create social networking sites such as squidoo, hubpages, blogger, wikispaces etc all with good articles and pointing at your site.
Bookmark these social networks with as many social bookmarks as you can. Normally each account should link to perhaps 2 of the social networks.

Take the RSS feeds from the Social networks and bookmarks and then submit them to as many RSS aggregators as you can.

Then create accounts in as many article directories as possible (not just street articles) and submit artices with keyword optimised anchor texts pointing back to the social networks.
Also do articles pointing directly to your site.

By doing this you are creating a powerful link wheel.

There are software packages available that make this work 100 times quicker but you need to be able to use them effectively to make them cover there costs.

It's safe to say whatever those software packages are, that's what he uses for his business. ;) Good luck.

Let me rephrase lol. I didn't mean article directories. I meant directories where you post your link. Like an online phone book. Like Dmoz.

Directories can mean about anything so you did have me confused. If you're wanting to take that route, I suggest my friend Richard. You can pay for that & get your link out to a lot of places by a SEO expert. easynuke.com. Besides doing something like that, you're probably looking to waste your time. That's my honest opinion.

Thanks but I'm not looking for a paid solution. I manage my own backlinking profiles mainly for learning purposes... that way I don't have to pay out as much. I just need a few directories that I can post too. There are a ton out there and I have no clue which ones are really ok to use use and which arent.

For diversity's sake I don't think it matter's a huge deal. The one's I use are streetarticles, ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, sooperarticles.com, articlesbase.com, and ezinemark.com

Yeah. I think it's all about targeting people in various directories & creating a bigger presence online, no matter what directory you're using. I know Street Articles & Ezine Articles are probably the 2 most choice. Then Goarticles and articlesbase probably 2nd choice to those two. Haven't heard of soop and ezinemark. I should check them out. Good luck. ;)

Hey Jesse,

Backlinks should mainly be made for getting traffic to your site(s). Then wherever you're posting these backlinks on, you're targeting traffic WITHIN that directory. I wrote a review about some article directories I prefer using at http://seths-personal-internet-marketing-blog.slayton1s.com/street-article-reviews/. I plan on transferring this site to slayton1s.com just in case it's not there if you visit.

back-linking in respects to optimization with Google should be the least of your worries.
