FTP Software

Last Update: December 17, 2009

In the old days, when I first touched playing with web sites and the like, I used an FTP prgram called Cute FTP. As far asI am aware, it is still going and my memoriesof using it some 12 years ago are fond.

These past few years, my wife has taken care of this side of things and she used another program, which I believe was equally as useful. I forget the name, but  she seemed quite happy with it.

Now, I am a person who likes neatness and it often drives me crazy having so many programs open all at once on my puter.

So I have discovered a nice little Firefox plug in called Fire FTP. Once installed, you can access it from the Tools menu on the Firefox menu bar and a new tab opens up and you are able to see your local directories on the left. Create a connection to your WA Host or wherever your pages are stored and on the right you will have your remote directories, your web sites.

It's very easy to use and so far, I haven't had any need to use any options that it may not support compared to Cute FTP say. All in all, it's a good little FTP program that negates the need to have yet another program open on your task bar.

Here's the link to it Fire FTP.

That sounds like a cool extension to use instead. I also used CuteFTP for many years but have crossed over to using FileZilla. It was uncomfortable for me to switch at first because I was set in my ways but am very pleased with it now. Now I need to find something for Google Chrome. :)
